Pentax lens hood issue.

I found a vintage Pentax lens hood that is marked..Takumar 1:2 35mm 1:3.5 35mm. I has a 49mm thread. Of course when I screw it on to my 35mm lens, it does not stop and line up correctly. Am I missing some sort of ring or something that allows this to have correct orientation on the lens? My hood for my 28mm has a ring that tightens down when mounted and allows it it to square up. For now, I will use the 28mm hood, but would be nice to have the correct hood on my 35mm lenses. Thanks!!

The hood rotates in the screw in lens mount--takes some effort--unlike the 28mm f/3.5 and other rectangular hoods where the lens mount clamps onto the lens

May not be the problem but if you are using it on a SLR / DSLR with an M42 adapter then I have found the lens does not line up exactly the same as it would on a M42 camera (and varies between adapter too). If so then a screw in rectangular hood will be in the wrong position

There are cheap round rubber filters on e-bay. Maybe it's simpler the buy a new one.

Thanks!! I have never seen this hood before. My hood was not movable at all, so I soaked it in rubbing alcohol for a while which loosened it a bit , then applied a couple drops of WD-40. Works DANDY now! I will now use it on my 35mm F2 and look cool.
