I knew it was a big 28 but hadn't realized just how big this lens is.

Drool-worthy, of course. Looking forward to seeing your pictures taken with it.

The lens was a result of a short term relationship between Pentax and Zeiss. The designer that created it used cinema lens techniques in its construction. The same fellow was responsible for the f0.70 lenses used during filming of the acclaimed Barry Lyndon.

Great lens and one of the best Pentax has ever produced. Also one of two Pentax lenses designed in collaboration with Carl Zeiss. (K15/3.5AL is the other)

Do I see the OEM square plastic hood lurking in the background? If so it's a must have for the K28/2.

Enjoy.

Phil.

Yes indeed Phil. It's previous owner knew how to look after it.

Unreadable novel turned into an unwatchable film. But the cinematography is great. Makes for great stills. The story of the lens is here: "Barry Lyndon": The Full Story of the Famous f/0.7 Lenses - Neil Oseman

Congrats on "Peter goes to Hollywood".

It's known as the Holywood lens due to the out of focus rendering. Also it is a special lens being the only output of the Zeiss collaboration.
Apparently there was a lot of claims and evidence that the 15/3.5 was part of that collaboration as a well as other technology.

I hear that it only works best in the Southern Hemisphere, happy to take it off your hands when it proves to be unworkable in the north
