As for the tiny click on the FA 77/1.8 between f/2.8 and f/2, I can hear such on my MIJ Black copy. It is quite faint, but definitely there.

The FA 77 click... Does it give you closer focus? I canīt find this on my copy...

How many lenses did Jun design for Pentax? Of the Limiteds, I'm aware of the 43 & 77. The 31 came later. Was it designed by Jun? His paper only mentions the 43 & 77.
Thanks,

I don't think so. My take on that part of the original post is that there is an optical optimization that kicks in just below the f/2.4 click stop on the aperture ring. Whether this optimization only applies with manual aperture use was unclear. Perhaps @JPT can clarify?

Interesting, because the DA 35 Macro is one of my contenders for the title of "Lens that would not cause me to cry if it became permanently affixed to my K-5". The ultra close focus capability of that lens has come in very handy on any number of occasions.
