Kit lens replacement (yet again)

Looking to replace the lit lens. Trying to decide between the Pentax 16-45 or Sigma 17-70. I know the Sigma is a touch longer and the focal length would fit right in my lit with the Tammy 70-300. I would not be concerned about the loss of the 1mm on the wide end. Which would you choose and why? Of course I am open to suggestions. My budget is around $400 US so that rules out any * lenses.

The research I did led to the 16-45mm. Sharper wide open, lower distortion at the wide end, better colour rendition (subjective). Great wide end performance was more important to me than extended reach.

I have the 16-45 and it's an amazing lens. It's sharp wide open and at F/4 it's really nice. I feel it's a bit short at 45 but if you don't need the range it's a great lens.

edit: I also have the 50-200 so the range stopping at 45mm doesn't matter that much to me.

Honestly, I'd pick the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8. For $40 more than the 16-45, B&H prices, you pick up a full stop of aperture.

I agree, 16-45 is a great lens, albeit a little short........I have the 50-200 as well so no big deal.....

One of the reasons I upgraded from the 18-55 was that I just found the 55 too short, I got the Sigma and am very happy. Though it's a bit bigger. It just depends on what focal lengths you find yourself using.
