I've had 2 of those

I got the Irix 15 Blackstone and used it for work. I was pleased with it and had no issues. Great for the price.

I just sold it to Used Photo Pro, as I now have the 15-30. The 15-30 appears to be all that it is cracked up to be. I was able to get it when it hit it's lowest price ever (record still holds...), and so I took the jump. It had previously been just out of reach for my K1 (upgraded), which is really my backup camera.

Thanks to everyone for all of the replies, I really appreciate them. This is going to be a difficult decision but at least I have some time to decide as I probably won't need such a wide lens until spring.

I had a copy of that lens, they aren't very common in K-mount. I sold my copy of it several years ago. I recall It had excellent resolving power @15mm - it performed very well at wide focal lengths on my optics bench. However the lens performed rather poorly @30mm at that focal length the lens lost a lot of contrast, and only just started to recover it @f/11. I also found that lens had significant flare issues. The SMCP-DFA* 15-30mm f/2.8 lens with its superior coatings was visibly superior, you could see the difference between them even in the thumbnail previews.
Yeap, basically, I mostly ever used it at its widest, being a prime user mostly, it's concerning that the only, truly wide lenses we have had access to are zooms. Still, at 20% of the price of the DFA 15-30, it's a nice lens. I still prefer the Sigma 12-24 over it.

Hopefully, we will get a DFA 20/2.8 or a DFA 24/2 ( actually be happier with a set of FF limited lenses, a FF 15/4, couldn't see anybody who would be unhappy with that.)
