Any zooms with pixie dust magic?

Hear a lot about the 3 amigos and their beautiful rendering. What zooms are highly thought of?
Thanks,
barondla

On APS-C format, the HD DA20-40 seems to qualify. I've just posted in another thread that many folks consider it to be a good alternative to the DA21, 35 and 40 Limited primes, whilst offering silent focusing and WR into the bargain. The rendering is very nice indeed for a zoom lens, too, while the colours and contrast are typical of HD coated glass (i.e. "punchy").

It's not a lens I've warmed to myself, but enough people love it that I'm clearly an outlier in this respect...

The only one I've used that qualifies is the FA*80-200/2.8

Though, specifically at 105mm the new 28-105 has a certain charm.

this older thread discusses Pentax and non Pentax lenses folks thought provided " pixie dust "

The Official Pentax Forums "Pixie Dust" Lens List - Page 3 - PentaxForums.com

I didn't see many zooms from a quick glance

and one noted apparently wasn't available in a Pentax mount

I'm sure the 50-135 will show up here in the comments... and the 20-40 already did.

Yeah, the 50-135 is the only APS-C zoom I've used that gave me a primelike feel.

I'll second that; the FA*80-200/2.8 is like no other Pentax zoom that I have used.

I’ll third that. DA*50-135 is fantastic optically.

Definitely agree with this!

Another lens (though not a zoom) would be the DFA 100 WR.

I'm surprised how many shots I take with the 16-50 that look limited-like.

Well does’t anyone think the A35-105, f3.5 (which is often regarded as a stack of primes) would qualify?
Mine gives me superb rendering. I rather assumed it got maybe a sprinkling of Pixie Dust, if not a proper shower of it.

The HD DA 20-40 may qualify here; it’s still pretty new to me but I really like the results so far. Very similar look to the 15 Ltd photos.

I have an old F35-70 that has some special rendering too. I need to use it more.
