super takumar 35 f2 vs f3.5

now that i have two..

is there a point

both are 49mm filter rings, and the F2.0 is only 2/3 inch longer

i'm going to do some tests, but it seems rather pointless to keep both.

thoughts?

If the difference in IQ is negligible, keep the F2 for the extra stops.

Do some test with the F2 wide open. How is it?

Then test both at 3.5 with a tripod, same exposure etc. Then do the same at 5.6 and 11.

Which is better overall, in the center and in the corners? If there is not much difference and you don't shoot wide open with a 35mm that often AND you are on a budget (perhaps need some other lens?) then selling the more valuable lens might make sense. Sometimes its easier to sell a more expensive lens than a cheap lens.

But the 35mm and the 50mm focal length can fool people. Quite often lenses in these focal lengths can be quite good with the cheaper versions.

But if you need a fast aperture now and again and the F2 gives better results then you have to keep it. In short doing your own careful tests will tell you all you need to know...
