I sometimes go without the 35mm and just shoot almost everything with the 21mm, using the 70mm for portraits and when I need some reach.

one thing we might be over looking is the

" why do you have that one, I've never seen you use it "
factor might apply here

the OP should consider carefully all of our recommendations

and not be afraid to ignore any or all of them

remember to have fun, with and without the camera and lenses,

good luck

When I travel for pleasure... it's usually this gang from the Harem I take and always shot on manual focus.

My "Good Lady” Pentax-A 20mm F2.8, "Special Lady” Pentax-A 50mm F1.2, and "Gorgeous Lady” Pentax-A*200mm F2.8 ED.

Sometimes I throw in “Sweetheart” Pentax-A*85mm F1.4 too for good measure.

I find that this covers nearly all eventualities for my style of shooting.

If I had to travel light with stuff that I own, I would take my Samsung NX1 with 16-50/2-2.8 and 50-150/2.8 lenses. Plus my Samsung NX100 as a backup. Not super light, but it will fit into a small bag. I might add a Samyang 85/1.4 too.

If it had to be K mount, I would take my Pentax K200D with Sigma 10-20/3.5, Pentax M 28/2.8, Pentax M 50/1.4 (or Pentax 18-55 kit lens but I doubt it) and finally Sigma 70-300/4-5.6 APO. My Kx body would work better but the battery door is broken and needs duct tape to keep things together. Yes it is time for another K mount body, but I'm holding out for the release of the Knew before I decide.

Taking KP, 11-18, 20-40 and PLM to Finland next summer. K1 stays home.
The question now is, tripod or not...

10 year old Lowe Pro AW102 Sling, KP, F24-50, DA15, A100, DA 50-200WR for inclement weather, 5 batteries (Last month in Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, and a small ancient REI backpack for clothing. Sling hangs perfectly beside the backpack while running to Baltic Air connections. Great setup for all manual shooting.

With a KP you will probably be OK. Unless you want to do some astrophotography...

No chance for astro in the summer, does not get dark enough at night.

I take a Joby, compact, lightweight, stable. usable on flat surfaces or to wrap around railings, etc.
I sometimes also take a beanbag, but fill it with rolled up clothes.

I bought a tiny tripod with legs that have one extension section and can extend to form a triangle about 12 inches on each side. This works fine for my K1 with Tammy 28-75/2.8 or K5 with sigma 10-20, although a bean bag, or camera bag, or a rolled up sweater/jacket works as well.

It really becomes a question of what is the minimalist requirement , and there have been tons of articles about alternate camera supports.

Unless I am driving every where a full size tripod is out.

As I said a few posts ago, if wildlife is not part of a trip, I take 2 bodies and 2 lenses, with coverage from roughly 15-105mm (full frame equivalent) That’s all you really need in a city

Hoping to image wildlife in Aland archipelago.
Tripod will be Gitzo GT3542L. I need to come up with a light weight head for it.
Manfrotto 229 weighs as much as the legs do...
