There should be two new teleconverts:

I wish for this to be true. I'd be happy to purchase such a TC (1.4x, FF, WR). However, this thread suggests that it's only rumours at this point.

It's no rumor, has been confirmed in an Pentax Interview.

I look forward to comparing that lens to the DA* 60-250mm converted to FF. The latter still has the edge regarding range, but I'm guessing the new lens will focus faster and will probably be just as good optically.

One thing has surprised me a lot on the Ricoh web page. At the bottom, they list the current lenses, but make no mention at all of the three Fa Limited!! I cannot understand why that is so.

I wonder how much of a difference there will be between the 60-250 and 70-210 in non-infinity focus situations. Pentax makes it pretty clear that there is less focus breathing with the 70-210 than with the DFA *70-200. The 60-250 has a max magnification of .15x whereas the 70-210 has one of .32x. To me, this says that the difference in focal length (on the long end) will be negligible in many situations or the DFA 70-210 f4 will actually be superior to the 60-250.

Irrespective of the close focus argument, don't forget that the DA* 60-250's reputation for image quality is founded on its performance on crop sensors. Despite the fact that it just covers full frame (with physical modification), I would be very interested in some critical comparisons with the DFA 70-210.

I still don't understand the desire for a FF teleconverter. If you want more reach from a full frame lens, put it on a crop camera. If you want even more reach, use the HD DA 1.4x rear converter on that crop camera.

One could argue that a 1.4 TC converter is more practical than putting the lens on a crop camera, if you need both "versions" of the lens in the same shoot.

Although, in the end, if you don't need a large print, just cropping tends to do the trick. A 15 MP crop of the K-1 still puts you past 4K resolution (and almost to A3 size at 300 ppi).

This will be something I'll be sure to look into.

The 60-250's reputation on FF has been growing since people started modifying it It's one of my go-to lenses on the K-1.

What Serkevan said. It's often much more convenient to swap lenses than bodies. Cropping with a 36 MP sensor is fantastic but there are limits to that too. Otherwise no one would purchase 300mm lenses

I hear some people like to crop them into a 450mm equivalent

Jokes aside, of course there are limits (and drawbacks) with all the possible options.
