Pentax M 50mm f1.7 - stops per click

I am completely new to anything Pentax so excuse me if the question is really stupid. How many stops per click does this lens should have?

I seem to be getting one click between 22-16 which would indicate a full stop per click. Then two clicks between 16-11 which should be half stop per click. And finally two clicks between 2.8-1.7 which might be a full stop to 2 and then a half stop. Is this normal?

1.7 to 2 is a half stop.
2 to 2.8 is full stop [updated].

Quite a few lenses skip the half between 16 and 22.

So, yes, normal for that lens in particular.

2 to 2.8 is a full stop.

The click between 1.7 and 2.8 could be 2.4, which is a full stop from 1.7 and half stop from 2.8
Or could be 2, half stop from 1.7 but a full stop from 2.8

I used the lens for many years but in the eighties, more than 30 years ago, so I'm not quite sure.

Yes, you are right, it is a full stop.

I played with the Pentax ME that came with the lens and I am getting one stop in shutter speed between the second and the third click so that is one stop in aperture. The first click does not change the shutter speed so that is likely to be a half stop in aperture. The camera lightmeter has one stop resolution.

1.7 -> 2 half stop for the first click
2 -> 2.8 full stop for the second click
2.8 to 16 half stop for each click
16 -> 22 full stop for the last click
