How about just mounting your 28mm Kiron to the ME Super (best viewfinder of your bunch) and do a little focus practice. That should provide some perspective on FOV as well as the ease of focus and whether you want something wider.

Steve
that's a good thought

what I really need is for someone who has a 24mm lens and a 28mm lens to post photos of the same scene so it is obvious what is captured using both lenses

that would be nice if anyone is willing to do so

or I could use my 16 - 85 at 16 mm on a ASP-C which should give me the field of view roughly the same as a 24mm on a full frame sensor

16 x 1.5 = 24

Yeah, 16mm on APS-C should to the trick for the comparison.

Nikon also has a nifty "simulator" to see the differences: Nikon | Imaging Products | NIKKOR Lens Simulator

Maybe the following image helps a bit ...

Shot at 16mm using DA*11-18 in K-1 FF mode ... an ultra wide to wide angle overview simulation of different focal lengths.

The mobile app photopills also offers different tools (pills). One of it shows the angles of focal lengths for the chosen camera. Pentax cameras also available.

I was contacted via PM by a forum member yesterday

and quite frankly I have been floored by his kind offer

he is willing to send me, for the cost of postage, his Sigma Superwide II 24mm f2.8, manual focus version, with the A position on the aperture ring, for a free trial

if I like it, we will discuss a price

Sigma 24mm F2.8 Super Wide II Lens Reviews - Sigma Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

As I said, the trust of the member who I have never dealt with before, amazes me.

I am now trying to figure out whether I want to pay postage to and from or just decide on the numerical data I now have about the difference

as I tell new members " lots of friendly members " can be found here at the forums

Didn't think you were complaining, and I was only attempting some lightness too, which apparently did not come across.

No worries. It's the problem with posting on the internet. No tone, no body language, no beer on the table.

Definitely start shooting film, if you haven't shot film in a while, you've probably forgotten all the little things about what makes appealing photos from film and are guilty of assuming that field of view (and the cost of processing) is the only difference from using the K-3 and KP. The medium really is the message. (to paraphrase the smartest Canadian that ever lived). The widest I could go when shooting film was 28mm, but as long I could view it blown up big (slides or at least a 10x14 enlargement) I liked the wide angle look.
