Is it possible that it has an adapter? Or maybe it is just a variation as you suggest. Same thing happens with he 83 1.9. It can be found in m37 chrome, m37 black and chrome or m42 black and chrome.

Take a look at the lens reviews on this forum. They list it there. They are very rare in the M42 mount and are highly rated by the users. I've been wanting to buy one but haven't found one yet.

Yes thanks, seen the M42 version there, but my copy is M37, AND black and chrome like the ordinary m42

No adapter its Def. m37. Ok, just haven't seen any info on that it was made for asahiflex as well. Do you know why, because there already was a M37 version?

The serial number may be the key here. Sn. 155xxx is of 1957 production. It is close to a 58/2,4 58mm lens (154xxx) that followed one of my APs.
The Asahiflex IIa was still produced during the first months of 1957 before it was discontinued. The M 37 lenses probably were discontinued before that, with M 42 taking all production capacity. So, if an Asahiflex owner wanted a 100 mm lens that wasn't produced anymore, it would be easier to rebuild a new design M 42 lens to M 37 mount than to start up the production of the old design again.
Flexible customer service was easier in those days.

Yes sounds like that, so you think it was custom made? According to this site there were 5 batches made and this serial number is the last one in batch four of a total of 9 made it that batch. Could it be that all 9 in batch four were made M37...?

Interesting site! I didn't know that one. It has been said that there were no sn. lists from Asahi, so I wonder were he got the information.
Anyway, if this information is correct, the batch including your copy may very well be M 37 all together. In any case, putting an old M 37 mount on a new M 42 design barrel would be easy. Enjoy the lens!
