Sigma 17-70

I bought this lens as it was a good price and seemed to get decent reviews. well, first, so far its been great. a bit of vignetting (sp?) but easily removed, without image sacrifice when RAW. second, it's range of 2.8-4.5 is for the most part better than i'd read.

i get 2.8 up to 24mm, and still have 4.0 at 67mm!

obviously, it's a bit sharper at 5.6-8, but good numbers in any case. especially for AUD $299!

I's a great lens and well worth the $$$. It's really good at shooting close-ups of flowers. Not really a macro but it focuses close enough to make it useful at that distance.

Ilove the lens too, it's probably the best kit lens replacement out there. Not many (if any) people have anything wrong to say about it.

I'm quite partial to the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 Macro I bought after binning my kit lens, although in retrospect it's aparent I got a bad copy of the kit. The 18-55 MKII is much better, but I still wouldn't trade it for the Sigma by a long shot. My Tammy 28-200 ain't half bad either.
