I use a " random number generator " to determine what lens to use should I not be able to decide

Random Thing Picker

I just listed all of the choices and let chance decide

I grabbed the idea from a forum member who used it to determine what subjects to photograph

130 excluding doubles and mounts I can't use and broken stuff. I am too lazy to sell, don't want to sell crap lenses, want to keep good lenses.

Here I sit with just 5 lenses feeling inadequate obviously in need of therapy. Then in the mail is a refund from our mortgage escrow account which would cover the Pentax 12-24mm that i am sure I need. But then someone else saw the check. Alas, I will have to struggle along.

What about you?
I am in the same situation here in USA, Delaware with most everything closed due to Covid-19. So here is my assessment of what I have:

* Cameras: K-5 and K-3
* F series lens: 28 f2.8
* FA series: 50 f1.7
* DFA Series: 100 Macro WR
* DA Limited: SMC 15, 21, 35 macro, 70; HD 40
* DA* 200 and 300
* DA zooms 17-70 (dead SDM) 16-85 (my most used lens) HD 55-300 (no longer used) 55-300 PLM (second most used)
* 1.4X Teleconverter
Realistically I don't get to use them all. There some I should sell and pare down my collection even though all (except the 17-70) are great lenses in perfect condition. I would like to add either a DA12-24 zoom or the DA* 11-18 if I can afford to splurge, but I would need to clear out some of what I have to get one of these.

setting priorities can be necessary but

darn inconvenient

__________

I am currently trying to decide if I need to add a 24mm to my assortment of lenses

[ https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/10-pentax-slr-lens-discussion/404586-con...ml#post4948307 ]

primarily for a wide angle for the SLR cameras - the 28mm is the widest that I currently have

As long as we are discussing quantity over quality; I have 11.175 kg, excluding projector, enlarger, and CCTV lenses

You’ll all be glad to know, then, that LBA (and GAS) are not among the pre-existing medical conditions reckoned to increase mortality with Covid-19. What your osteopath thinks of these lists may be another matter.

Trust me, you need that Pentax 12-24! It's a great lens.

GAS & LBA may not be among the pre-existing medical conditions, but similar to the corona virus, there is no cure and we are all susceptible to it. Oh, and men get it a lot more than women....

I only have a little less than a dozen:

Pentax
DA* 50-135mm f2.8
DA* 16-50nm f2.8
DA* 55mm f1.4
DA* 60-250mm f4
DA 35mm f2.8 Macro Limited
SMC-K 28mm f3.5
SMC-A 20-50mm f4
SMC-A 50mm f1.4

Sigma
50-500mm f4.5-6.3 OS
EX 28mm f1.8
EX 10-20mm f3.5
EX 180mm f3.5 Macro
EX 50mm f1.4
EX 1.4x teleconverter (actually thinking of selling this one because I never use it)

Now in terms of lenses I've sold, I've had:

-Tamron 90mm Macro
-Pentax 50-200mm
-Tamron 70-300mm
-Pentax DAL 18-55
-Pentax DAL 55-300
-Sigma EX 50-500mm
-Pentax SMC-M 50mm f2
-Ricoh Rikenon 55mm f1.2

I think I had more but I can't remember them.

It's a bit like one drug addict comparing his addiction to another drug addict. Face it, we all are hopelessly addicted with no apparent cure.

I've got mine in a spreadsheet I'm not too fond of heavy lenses; my heaviest is less than 1 kg, and all but two are less than 0.5 kg. Average is about 260 grams, median is 230 grams.

Do I need help?

Probably

I also have most of mine on a spreadsheet but I like heavy lenses. Saves me from needing a gym membership.
