Here I sit with just 5 lenses feeling inadequate obviously in need of therapy. Then in the mail is a refund from our mortgage escrow account which would cover the Pentax 12-24mm that i am sure I need. But then someone else saw the check. Alas, I will have to struggle along.
For a long time in my youth I had only one lens. I borrowed a few lenses here and there but years of use centered on a modest a 50mm f2.

The thing is, with all the lenses I get to test while performing reviews, my "LBA" is satiated without actually having to purchase all those lenses. For instance I'm currently testing the DFA 70-210 F4, and the Laowa 60mm ultra macro. Fine lenses to play with. Before that I had fun with the 10-17 fisheye. So I can explore and, sometimes, decide to keep a lens. For instance the jury is still out whetherr the DFA 70-210 ought to replace the 60-250.
You have a mighty fine selection of lenses. Anything beyond that in my list are specialists (e.g. for astro landscapes, indoor sports, fish-eye) , a compact prime or two instead of an ultra-wide zoom and stuff I simply haven't bothered to sell yet. I would likely not have bought some of the lenses if I had a chance to test them upfront.

no one has too many lenses nor too few

it's all up to the individual's wants, " needs " and priorities

IMHO

Pentax DA 10-17mm fisheye
Sigma Art 35mm 1.4 (almost always on my K-5IIs)
Pentax XS 40mm 2.8 (decentered but still use it sometimes)
Pentax FA 50mm 1.4 (waiting to be sold)
Pentax A 50mm 1.7 (attached to my Chinon CE-4)
Tamron DI SP 90mm 2.8 Macro (also usable for portraits, great bokeh IMHO)

I recently sold Tamron 17-50 and I'm not planning to buy a replacement.

I'm pretty satisfied apart from that 40mm which I would like to repair but I'm not sure if it's worth it.
As soon as I sell my FA 50mm I think I might buy something longer, perhaps 60-250. Although I probably would not use it much.

Hello, I'm Jason and I'm a lensaholic.

I have amassed a massive (in general public terms) or barely modest (in terms of opinion and comparison to others in this group) collection of manual focus Pentax prime lenses over the past several years.
Here's a complete list, since we're all doing that here.

K series: K15f3.5, K17f4 Fisheye, K24f2.8, K28f3.5 Shift, K30f2.8, K50f1.2, K55f1.8, K105f2.8, K135f2.5, K200f2.5, K500f4.5, *K400-600 Reflex Zoom
M series: M20f4, M28f2, M28f3.5, M35f2, M40f2.8, M50f1.4, M50f1.7, M50f4 Macro, M85f2, M100f2.8, M100f4 Macro, M120f2.8, M135f3.5, M150f3.5, M200f4, M*300f4, M400f5.6
A series: A20f2.8**, A50f2.8 Macro, A*85f1.8, A100f2.8 Macro, A*135f1.8, A*200f4 Macro, A400f5.6**, A*600f5.6**

I have a few extra bits and bobs that I'll put up in the marketplace in the foreseeable future, but at this time nothing on this list will be sold anytime soon. Nevertheless, like apparently many of you, I've also had repeated internal crises over whether all (or any) of these are needed in order to have a fulfilling hobby in photography. As a matter of fact, I've confided these concerns privately to a couple of friends on this forum in the past couple of weeks. Essentially it came down to... which is better, amassing a large collection or sticking to a few modern lenses? I guess the resulting decision is clear.

*edit* I have added one more lens... the K400-600 Reflex Zoom. I had my reasons... close-focus ability, compact portability, and of course the donuts. Beyond that, I know of no other zoom mirror lens in existence, so having one in the collection kind of makes me feel warm and fuzzy. It's hard to find a good one (watch for delaminating front elements if you shop for one), but it is fun to use. Not too impressed with IQ yet, but wasn't expecting to be honestly... I was looking to use it for close-ish spring flower shots with "interesting" bokeh, however wouldn't you know the dogwoods skipped their flowers this year, and covid has all of us locked up anyway.

**edit #2** I added three more A series lenses, the A20mm, A400f5.6, and the A*600f5.6 for no particular reason. LBA is the best disease in the world!

Hi, my name is Bertrand and I have LBA.

I have bought only nine lenses so far in 2 years time :

Generalist
Pentax SMC DA-L 18-50
Tamron 18-250

Wide angle
Pentax SMC DA 10-17 Fisheye
Sigma 10-20 F3.5

Primes
Pentax SMC DA 35 F2.4
Pentax SMC DA 50 F1.8

Macros
Pentax SMC DFA 50 F2.8

Telephotos
Tamron 70-300
Pentax HD DA 55-300 PLM

I have everything covered. I paid attention to not duplicate everything with every new lens added to the collection. But still I am looking for new lenses. I am looking for a perfect walkaround, which would be WR, silent focus, great IQ especially at wide angle, fast aperture and a good focal coverage, light and cheap, but I have not found it. Lenses tempting me currently :
- Sigma 17-50 : has almost everything but WR and limited focal coverage
- Pentax DA 16-45 : rather cheap but no WR, limited focal coverage and no fast aperture
- Pentax DA 16-85 : costly, no fast aperture

Should I be tempted by a Limited wide angle, the "pixie dust" everyone is talking about, even if I have already 2 lenses doing a rather good job and complementing each other in term of field of view? Even then, which one, the DA 15 Limited, or the DA 21 Limited?

I dream of lenses. I want a lens. No, I want many lenses and cherish them. But I don't know which one. And I'm broke. And I'm currently in lockdown. And Amazon also has stopped delivering photo gear since saturday in my country to allow only orders of first necessity gear. Lenses apparently do not qualify.

I have LBA and currently suffering. Please help me.

Hi, Jason, hi, Bertrand-

My name is Don, and I imagine that I also have LBA (lens buying affliction?), I know that I have Old Lens Acquisition Syndrome, or OLAS. Unfortunately and unlike my brethren, I am not so...settled in my affliction as to admit its depth. This forum has encouraged its development, and there might be another addition on the way.

I am with you in spirit, my fellow sufferers; I'll just sit over here and be quiet...

I'm afraid to sell anything, as I know I'll regret it later on. So I just keep buying more gear.......................

Thankfully I don't think I've ever had LBA - apart from 1 or 2 specific lenses! Thus I don't have many lenses, and when one never gets used then I'll probably sell it to recoup "some" cash" if I can.

OTOH, there are a couple (very early 35mm Flektagon with "sentimental" value, and a couple of old 50mm primes that fit my remaining, and never used, 35mm bodies) - and then there are those (Practica bayonet & Sigma-equivalent fit) that just are not worth the hassle in trying to sell them, even if somebody bought them I wouldn't make more than a pound or two after the P&P costs.

Finally, there is one (an ancient and huge/heavy M42 Sun 80-200mm zoom) that I wouldn't wish on anyone - the glass from the bottom of a bottle would probably produce better images

I can't count that high. The Pentax High Council would be impressed.

If I put mine all in one place, SWMBO might be able to count, and then I'd be in the s**t.

I have the same problem, so I distribute my lenses across various bags, cupboards and drawers.

Impressive, but could you list them as well? It's not like you have places to go and people to see, hehehe.

PS: Two of my lenses are in the shop with fungus, so I can't put all of them onto a table for a family portrait, for now.

Strangely enough... I have just the right amount (as shown in my sig below), so no planned "Harem" changes here.
