DA 1.4x rear convertor sdm w/ DA 300?

DA 1.4x rear convertor sdm w/ DA 300?

is this combo realistic for good IQ?

the 1.4 is only one stop lost?

the new DA convertor coming out with be compatible with the DA lenses?

this combo should make the 300mm a 450mm with 5.6 instead of a 4 aperture?

there should be enough light for AF?

thanks to any and all answers

I want to shoot wildlife e.g. wolves, bears, and bisons; for birds I am guessing at least a 500mm; thanks

DA* 300mm f/4 + 1.4x TC = 420mm f/5.6.

I'm hoping the Pentax TC will multiply the focal length so the SR in the camera knows the attached lens is 420mm and not 300mm.

That would be nice, Mis, but I am pretty satisfied with The Tamron on both the DA* 200 and 300. Is there any reason to think there will be major IQ imrovement also? My only experience is with the 1.7 F-AF and I have not tried that with the DA*s but on other lenses it seems no more than equivalent to the Tamron.............

I'm also very happy with the IQ of the Tamron 1.4x TC and I would be very suprised if it could be improved on by Pentax. My only reason for selling the Tamron and getting the new Pentax would be if the Pentax multiplied the focal length by 1.4. But I don't think I use it enough to warrant the extra expenditure anyway. I'm just happy Pentax are showing a commitment to a complete system.

Seems like it...if you have the MC4 version. There are issues with the other version. Everything you ever wanted to know about the Tamron 14x TC and how it performs with various lenses is right here.
