Brand of bayonet lens hood compatible with Pentax? (16-85mm/72mm esp.) | SUCCESS!

I dropped the lens hood for my brilliant 16-85 Pentax lens on the beach. A new one is about $75 AUS.

Has anybody replaced theirs with something else?

I'm seeing lots of 72mm generic replacement for canon etc on eBay, but none mention Pentax.

Is this a lucky dip?

Thanks.

Any "generic" lens-hood advertised as suitable for a 16mm lens, with the same thread size as your lens, should be suitable. However, many eBay sellers, deliberately or otherwise, advertise lens-hoods as "will fit" when it is reasonably obvious from the images that it is unlikely to be "suitable" ... be prepared to trim to suit

Much obliged, thank you.

I note in the title of this post the word "bayonet" - generic 72mm hoods are threaded not bayonet.
JJC offer many compatible copies of Pentax hoods but I don't know about the 16-85.
The original will have a Pentax code on it such as RBC xxxxx.
An e-bay search on that code will quickly show if a bayonet hood is available.
If not as others say any 72mm threaded hood will fit but may give vignetting at the wide end of the zoom range.

A quick search on ebay for PH-RBA 72 shows no generic, but brand new ones can be had for 43.01US shipped. It shows some used ones designated for the FA28-200, don't know if those would line up right, possibly?

Adorama has the PH-RBA 72 for $28.95 USD. That seems like a fair enough price to me.

It is hard to say what the price for same in Australia might be. The problem with knock-offs is poor fit and risk of vignette since they are usually not a good clone.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Aussie dollar is close an all-time low. Which means over $70 for a genuine part. (Can't see the value.)

I'll try an el cheapo and surgery.

PS the Pentax 16-85 lens rocks

SOLUTION

- EW78D lens bayonet for Canon on eBay, obviously not made by Canon as the price was very low.

- Fits almost perfectly, a little loose, so I've added a 3-4mm wide band of gaffer tape around the small clip inside to increase the resistance against the lens . Took 60 seconds.

- Some interference with field of view at 16mm-24mm end, so I will have to trim ends off.

See attached photos in case you're not sure what I mean.
