Obscure Auto Vivitar 28mm 2.8 serial starts with 6

Hi everyone! I recently acquired an Auto Vivitar 28mm 2.8 lens and I can find any info on it. The serial is 67215. In this blog it lists numerous Vivitar distributed 28mm lenses, except this one. There is a Preset lens in the list that uses a similar serial code format. I've included 2 pics of the lens which is all I have right now. If anyone can help me investigate that'd be amazing. Lets figure this out together!

That looks like an early Tokina-manufactured lens to me. I have a 35 mm Hanimex known to be made by Tokina that is extremely similar in construction.

Others might disagree...

Nice catch. It's fun to come across uncommon lenses. And it seems there are always more new / old lenses to be discovered out there.

Your 28 might be part of the Vivitar "bright band" family which are speculated to have been made by Kino (Kiron).

The convention of manufacturer-linked serial numbers did not start until about 1970. I have a "bright band" Auto Vivitar Wide Angle 28/2.5 in Exakta mount that I have taken to be Kiron/Kino-made that also has a 5-digit serial #26xxx. The first digit of the JCII sticker might provide you with an indication of year. Mine is probably 1967.
