SIGMA 100-300MM f4

I am considering buying the Sigma 100-300 f4, has anyone tried out this lens yet? I want to know if the Auto focus speed is respectable on this lens.

Did you check out the lens review database? It gets good reviews from the people who have it. PentaxForums.com Third-Party Pentax Lens Review Database - 100-300mm F4 EX DG (AF Lens)

My cousin is a photojournalist who shoots with C**** 1D MK2 & MK3, he tried mine out recently on my K20D and his exact phrase was:-

'F*** me, that locked on fast!'

Without much experience, I guessed this was a good thing!

Knowing it was a Pentax, he probably expected it to take a good while.

I`ve heard only good things about this lens.

I also have a suggestion. If you have a friend or forum member that can do it for you right now. The MS Live.com cashback deal is on. You can get around 25% off a BIN lens on Ebay or similar sites that offer the deal. You could save $200 + if they buy it for you and ship it. Helps to offset the exchange rate and higher Canuck retails.

Excellent lens (although you certainly know you're carrying it!) - no trouble with focusing speed with mine on a K10. No trouble with manual focus either.

This lens is spectacular. Autofocus speed is more than adequate. Here's a couple of recent shots taken with it on my K200D:
