White Sigma 50-200mm zoom?

Anyone know anything about this lens?

ebay.be: Sigma 50-200mm 3.5/4.5 Pentax K A
Is there anything pro about this lens or just the color?

Interesting. I wonder how old it is?

But I don't think it's anything "professional", at least not at the price it went for. It looks old, but I don't even really know when Sigma started making lenses for Pentax mount. But it would've been a good collector.

White paint? Red ring? They were probably going for the Canon look.

There were no bids, so it might come back if someone wants it.

I have a copy. your image is no longer on-line so I can't be 100% sure but mine is white, w/red ring, 50-200mm 3.5~4.5 APO. It sold new for $799 (MSRP) back in 1977. By 1980 is was listed for $599. These days copies go for $120 ~ $150 in "very good" condition.

It's very sharp (but not jaw droppingly so) and lives up to it's APO badge for zero or near zero CA. It's one of the better MF Zooms from that time period of that zoom range. It's also quite rare. This is one of those sleeper lenses that if people knew about would sell for several times what it currently goes for. I could see paying $250~$300 for it - It's about that good. It's just too bad it's not f/1.8~3.0 or something!

Talk about thread necromancy. This thread in from November 2008. They are laughing at the color because Pentax hadn't even released a white camera yet. The white K-m wasn't released until 2009.

I do have the images of the lens, but would like to know how the IQ of it.
Just to judge how much this lens is worth.

I haven't seen anything like this since 2003 for nikon mount. Pretty cool.

I like the bambus shot

This lens looks sharp and good to me.
Usually, I avoid sigma lenses - I have too many bad copies and bad experience of primes, zooms, AF/HSM from Sigma.
I still have a few that got stuck in the closeth and no one seems to want them

Yeah, Sigma waters are a bit difficult to navigate. There's some really awesome Sigma lenses and there's some really poopy ones too. Mostly it's just knowing which ones to get. The internet works well for this.

This lens here however has like no information on-line about it tho. So it's why I came back to it and posted even tho the thread is so old.
