For me, it's pretty much what's in my bag now. A Sigma 18-35 Art, Pentax DA* 50-135, and a Sigma 50-500mm. I have all my bases covered. There's times where I might want to go wider but I still haven't got the hang of ultra wide angle even out at 18.

20, 43 and 150-450

30, 50 and 85 (K's)

Oh, those throwaway lines......

I consider most any, (read:all), 70-200/2.8 lenses to be LARGE, thus anything comparable to it will also be considered large.
My lens preference is heavily biased towards the Limiteds aesthetic. Anything bigger than an FA77 gets a hard critique from
me. Harsh, I know, but that's how I roll. The DFA 50/1.4, as excellent as it may be, will forever be edged out in >my< bag
by the much smaller yet still very excellent M50/1.7. A svelte profile has always been much appreciated in the gear I use.

For K-1:

SMC Pentax-FA 20-35mm F4 AL (managed to get one on Ebay before the prices went crazy)
HD Pentax-D FA 28-105mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR can't be beat for versatility (and WR - not too concerned about that)
either SMC Pentax-DA* 60-250mm F4 ED [IF] SDM or SMC Pentax-DA* 300mm F4 ED [IF] SDM

these I all have, but, since we are theorizing, probably HD Pentax-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6 ED DC AW

With the latter, I'd be pretty well covered from 20 to 450 mm! Maybe not at low aperture values, but with the K-1, I can crank up the ISO!

I’m quite serious about this response:
Cameras; K-1 | KP | Q | LX
Lenses: FA31 | FA43 | FA77

In case you didn’t figure it out yourself, I would mimic FF FoV narrower than 77mm by changing cameras.

If you want to allow some latitude on your original Query, add A1.4x-S and DA1.4x TC. I’ll insist they are listed in the Accessory Review Database

For what I shoot, they way I shoot, and my standards, it is a K70 (or K? when released) and the DA 16-85, DA* 60-250, and DA*300. Also, as an accessory the Da 1.4x tele-converter.

Yup, this. I only have the 55-300 PLM currently of that list; I want to replace my Sigma 10-20 f3.5 with a Pentax lens. But... I do love my 20-40 limited... so maybe the 11-18, 20-40, and 55-300?

Well it would have to be:

A20/2.8
A35/2
A*85/1.4

Why would you want anything else?
More width and length?

I'll always stick with the old tradition focal lengths in a three lens film kit that I grew up with, but with different lenses:

K28/2, K(A)50/1.2 and the A*135/1.8, used on a LX, shooting the new Ektachrome 100.

My first two are the 31 and 43 limited, I use the 31 a lot, and the 43 would be my "traveling light" and/or "normal" lens.

The third is harder, as if I'm restricting it to lenses I have, then the DFA 24-70 would be a strong contender, but it wouldn't work so well on my film cameras. I guess on that basis, my third lens would need to be an older zoom, so maybe the FA 24-90.

Why do you want to replace the Sigma 10-20? I recently bought that lens and enjoy it so far.

I'd go with my A-20, FA-31 and FA-135.

Currently I prefer DFA 50
Often add the small Ltd 77.

In theory Ltd 31 and 77 do it all - with the technical specs of the upcoming 21 - new AF, weather resistance, they would be perfect. Ltd 31 and 77 made an insane price hike in Europe in recent years, I am not buying into it. I had both one on K5 - too long focal length for APS-C. Had to rebuy the 77 since the 85 did not appear yet. For the 31, I use the Hollywood 28, Sigma Art 35 failed completely. The 24-70 covers the range, but is far from any magic. Looks like I need the Ltd 31 having to swap the Hollywood.

The 77 will have to fight for its place against the upcoming 85. The decision will be tough if you take size and weight into consideration. You probably need both.
With the 85 a new concept for a large aperture 35 is missing.

For any tele work, I am adding the DFA 70-200.

Looks like I need to think more about what are the three lenses to replace/swap...

Interestingly you picked two of my original three... but I don't leave home without Special Lady Pentax-A 50mm F1.2, so my Sweetheart Pentax-A*85mm F1.4 would be a bit too close to it.

The anything else lens would be... Lady Luck Pentax-A*135mm F1.8

3 is not enough.
If you are into wildlife, you need a long tele, too.
If you are into landscapes, you need an ultra-wide, too.

DA 12-24
FA 31
FA 43 or DA*55
DA* 60-250
DA 560
