sigma 10-20 question

Hello fellow pentax users,

im having trouble getting the sigma 10-20 for my k10d in Serbia ,and one of my friends is coming to London this week and he`ll get the lens for me there, the only trouble is that i do not know any retail stores in London to send him and was hoping you guys from London could perhaps help me find the shop to get lens from.
Any links, addresses would be great at this point.
Thank u very much.

Moderators,if this thread is in the wrong section please move it.

Cheers from Belgrade!

I have walked central London criss - cross a million times, and I eat my shoes (well, not really but I think you get the point) if you get it cheaper then this:
SIGMA 10-20mm Zoom Super Wide Angle (Pentax) EX DC Lens -319
their address is on top of the page, their phone too. Just give them a ring day before you want to go there to make sure they have it in stock, but at the moment they are showing it in stock. Closest tube station is Tottenham court road.
If you fail there, there is big Jessops shop right around the corner on New Oxford street (they are showing the same price, but I don't think they'd have it in shop, only in warehouse) and there is Jacobs, right accross the street from jessops where the price is + 10.
Good luck...

prolly better to make sure the lens works well, sometimes there have been quality control issues with this lens (or sigma lenses in general)

About the quality control issue. This lens will be somewhat soft on the left side (extreme border) @ 10mm & large aperture no matter how many times you swap it for another copy. Some copies however may be less soft than others.

Hey guys, thank u all very much.
Ofcorse its a bit soft on the corners, not a big problem for me,and i do most of my work with flashes so the aperture is glued @ f8,f11
I think theres no point in using wide angle at large apertures...
I guess i`ll just have to try my luck here, cuz theres no way for me to try the lens before buying it.
Thank u all once again,u`ve been very kind.
N yes,does anyone have some expirience with k10d n sigma 10-20 HSM combo ?
Does HSM work fine here?

Take care.

Sigma 10-20mm does not have HSM in Pentax mount.

Aye, no HSM but the screw driven AF is very snappy and fast.

can confirm that...
btw you'll need flash that is capable of covering 15mm equivalent in 35mm days.. anyway, at f8, or f11 you pretty much don't have to bother with focusing, the DOF is massive by then...

Hey Axl,i never use on camera direct flash,so flash coverage dont matter.

The focus throw is so short and the DOF so huge, that screwdrive AF will NOT be a problem with this lens! I owned it when I was shooting Pentax, and this was a lens I never had any AF issues (speed/accuracy) whereas my FA 50mm f/1.4 could get fairly sluggish in low-ish light.

I now own this lens for Canon, and although it's HSM, it's still just as fast as my Pentax copy (albeit a little quieter)

It's a FUN lens!
