kenyee, use the pop-up flash as an AF light. Just remember to close it down after you've achieved focus.

28-75 focusing test results

Here ya go, Kenyee...my focal point was Snoopy's head, FYI.

28mm...

50mm...

75mm...

They look OK to me. If they're OK with you, you might want to hop on this lens pretty soon, as I have 8 people watching it, counting you.

HTH,
Heather

FWIW, I have a friend w/ a D80 who complains all the time about how it overexposes and the metering sux and he has to use ev comp to bring it down while my K10D seems to expose correctly (daylight park scenes is where we did a comparison).

That said, I've sometimes been frustrated by my K10D's weak low light focusing as well (I don't have a P-TTL flash, so no AF light)...
You could be right about the D80 with day-light issues. At our last daytime family get together, I spanked the D80 + kit in natural light. Of course I had the Tamy 28-75 so in shaded light I had a real advantage. And she had just got the camera and was in Auto... I had a real advantage

PS they got the new camera to take pics of their new baby...

It is hard to argue with the results of the K100 and 28-75 without the flash!

I run the fleabay triggers unfortunately, so I can't do this w/ my K10D (the trigger sits atop the hotshoe so I can't bring the popup flash up)...that's a reason I'm thinking about upgrading to the K20D instead. I can use the PC sync port to fire the fleabay triggers while still using the popup flash.

Thanks, Heather. Could I trouble you to get the full size versions? I sent you a PM w/ my email addr.
The 28mm/2.8 pic looks possibly BF'd slightly (couch looks a lot more in focus than snoopy) but I wanted to check the full size image to confirm.
50/2.8 looks good. 75/2.8 looks very good.
It's hard to tell for sure w/o the fullsize ones. Even my BF'd ones didn't look that obvious once I downsized. (same w/ my Sigma 17-70 if I take a picture of a kid and the kid decides to shift her head to the side at the last second...looks fine downsized but zoomed in, the focus point was around her shoulder)-:

Halloween was the death nail for me. Another frustrating experience with PTTL flash.
Well I just took a couple of hundred photos at a wedding ann. I was a bit worried as I've done bugger-all flash stuff and just have the pop-up. This was all inside a dimish room. K20D with Sigmas 17-70 and 70-200. I was pleasantly surprised. All the photos have come out fine. i borrowed from Chris's bar shooting tips, set ISO at 400, usually f4, and between 1/60 to 1/4 of a second.

Some of these photos were 2-3m away, others up to 9m away. The only problem is now I have so many I'm going to have to go through and cull heaps!

The 28-75 has just sold! I also sold some Cokin P filters and accessories, too! Since the Prodigital2000 FA43 has a "best offer" option, I offered them 200.00 ($317.50 USD) for one of them. I hope they'll accept it--keep your fingers crossed!

300 would be a great deal on the FA43. Let us know if they accept it :-)

They accepted my second offer, so with the shipping and the US exchange rate, my grand total came out to be $349.25 USD.

This time around, you'll have to pry my 43 out of my cold, dead hand!!
