My old 70-200 EX (not DG, not macro, not HSM) reports correctly. Seems silly if they dropped this.

my APO 70-200 F2.8 EX (non DG non macro) also reports correctly, but as I said, my 10-20 does not. caught me by surprise, when I saw it, but really who cares. when you see the focal length correctly you know (usually) what you shot.

My new 70-200 has very little give - it seems to be as tight a mount as any of my other lenses.

It reports correct focal length.

Does it report the name of the lens?

Where do I look to see if lens name is reported correctly?

I use Kuso EXIF viewer, there are tons of EXIF viewers and editors out there for free

I've got CS3, and PhotoME - but don't know where to find this info in either program. I'd prefer not to download another one, since I have no real use for it.

Just to clarify something: a lens does not send its name to the camera, only a numeric ID. That is all that is recorded in the EXIF data. How that ID is translated to a name is up to the EXIF-reading software.

There have been many reports, for a long time, of Sigma lenses being loose when mounted on the camera. I have a 70-300mm APO that fits snugly, but I had a 400mm f/5.6 that had quite a bit of play.

I've never heard these complaints about other brands, just Sigma...

I only have one Sigma lens, the 24-60 f/2.8 EX--and in the latest lightroom it reports "SIGMA" for the lens name. I didn't note any special looseness in the mount. Most of my autofocus Pentax lenses have better names though the new DA 55-300 doesn't return a lens name. I'm inclined to believe that as RBellavance said that a future LR update may fix this, at least for the 55-300. It may be that Pentax only reserved one ID for Sigma to use for all of their lenses, which seems someone sensible if you're the owner of the mount and have a finite # of IDs available (I'm just guessing, this may not be the case).

In case I forgot to reply, I now know that a little looseness is normal and that Lightroom has problems identifying the lens, but PhotoME reports it correctly.
