First DFA* 85 1.4 samples

Normally I'm not active here, but I want to share some shots I was able to take with the DFA* 85 1.4 and thought it might be of interest for some of you too. Normally I'm active in the PENTAXIANS FB group.

Thank you for taking the effort to share the images to an often impolite anonymous crowd on the net.

Thanks for sharing. I downloaded a couple of the higher resolution shots. Image 6512 is very good to excellent.
Focus seems a bit off in the other images - likely the JPG compression is part of the issue.

6487 her lips, pores on sides of noise, right eyelashes, all are very sharp. DOF is not quite what I expected.

Really appreciate you taking the time to shoot and share these.

Ok a short opinion. I am lucky to get this early sample of the lens for a test. I will write down an longer first impressions in a few days when I have checked out all things I want to find out. But IQ wise this is a reference, not only in Pentax world. I did some night shots and from 1.4 on it feels you have around 85 to 90% of it's resolution.

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for sharing the photos. Also I am very curious how the results of the night shots will look like. How about your experiences with the weight balance of the K-1 and the 85mm attached to it?

Kind regards,

Ron

Hi Stephen, thanks for your post.

What's your opinion of this new lens, in terms of IQ,
in comparison of SMC FA77ltd ?

Thanks again.

Best regards,

Ben

FA 77 vs FA* 85 vs sigma 85 vs Rokinon 85 vs DFA 85

Not interested in knowing the winner, but curious about the resulting images.

Thanks for posting these! I understand that these photos have been made in your taste. Besides of couple obvious ones, how much did you process them? Dunno about others, but bokeh seems nice and the 3-D pop is nice. I quite like natural feel in these.

Thx for posting the images. The pic of your 85 attached to K1 , with the computer screen in the background gives an idea of the bokeh.. Looking forward to your future impressions of this highly anticipated lens.

This is probably a phone photo though.

OP - thanks for images! Can't wait for a write up, hope this lens is as good as we all hope it would be

This should make the people who didn’t like the high key images that Pentax used happy, anyway.

I opened a few from the google drive, and they seem to be very sharp.
