It's already a legend around here. It's the first lens Tess has ever agreed we should own (if we could afford it) from the preliminary images. They've all been impressive.
Well then be careful there Norm, maybe your body has more value than you think it does. Have Tess take the first drink or bite of anything she serves you.

Anyway love seeing a glowing first review of this lens. Perhaps it will push other review sites to be a bit more careful with their testing and conclusions.

I expect this lens is going to get a fair amount of airtime from new owners who want to show off what it can do.
Bad tests will very quickly get gut punched by users.
I am looking forward to DPR's review, just to see if they do their usual hit piece.

We should have a pool. How far into their review will DPR launch their first anti-Pentax cheap shot?

100 words? 200 words?

Under 50, they have to set their stall early on. Then again who is to say that they will get a lens to test? Pentax might get more coverage if they come out and say that they are boycotting DPR call it disaster / offensive advertising!

If anything qualifies as Fake News, it's DPReview.

"Pentax continues to confound the photographic segment by continuing to turn an operating profit amidst crashing sales and losses by its competitors while retaining class leading loyalty amongst their user base." One man's obsolete is another's tried and trusted.

Hi folks. Please keep the posts relevant to the topic, and not descending into bickering. Thanks.

Going back to the review itself and the sample shots, it looks like the foreground blur (particularly the boxy thing immediately in front of the plane of focus) in https://pentaxklub.com/pk/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/pkb_dfa85_galerie15.jpg is slightly busy... or rather, like motion-blurry. Almost as two imperfectly-superimposed images. Although it might be an illusion caused by different light.

That said, if imperfect foreground bokeh is the price to pay, it's a small one

Real photographers don’t have foreground bokeh.

I didn't realize there was such a thing as bokeh until after I started shooting digital, being an acolyte of St. Ansel.
