Has anyone used a 105mm 2.8 super takumar on a Nikon F mount?

As above. I found a great deal for 1 (not local) and wondering if it'll work. Thank you!

I know that but I’ve watched in a video that some m42 takumars are not compatible with Nikon. Just want to see feedback from on people who have used this lens on Nikon.

The 105mm focal length is one that Nikon focused on for years through today. I can't help with your question at all; I would go shopping for a real deal Nikon 105 if I had an F-mount camera.

Not as cheap as the deal i found for the takumar. And a quick check on eBay confirmed that

Pentax lenses have a slightly shorter registration distance. You would lose infinity focus unless you use a version that include an optical element that functions as a teleconverter. These tend to have terrible optical quality.

I agree with this sentiment... I have the Nikon 105 2.8 that was converted to K-mount and it is right up there with the some of the best Pentax Glass.

If I had a Nikon that baby would be in my bag.

Not a concern as I will using them for focusing at short distances

I do not know about any issues with Nikon, but I do know that with full frame Canons there can be an issue of some parts of the Takumar lens protruding too deep in the mirror box causing collision of the mirror with the lens. You can damage the mirror that way.
Just to be on the safe side, if you plan to use it on a film or FX Nikon, first check how deep the lens protrudes inside of the body. For DX Nikon there should be no problem. Although I suggest you to do some more research on that since I never tried takumar lens on a Nikon camera.

OK...that settled, there might be a member here who has used that lens on a Nikon body, but a quicker answer might be available if we knew why the video reviewer cautioned against some Takumar lenses and what lenses they mentioned in particular. As long as the lens has an A/M switch* (the Super Takumar and S-M-C Takumar 105/2.8 do) and you are using an adapter without a ledge for pin depression, there should not be many issues for M42 lenses in general.

Steve

* I should also add that pre-set and full manual aperture models are also highly compatible.

The longer the lens the more focus range you will have on a Nikon F mount. You can probably still use a 50/55 at portrait distances but any of the super wide lenses would become extreme close up.

There are two types of M42 to F adapters - those with optics to allow focus to infinity, and those without optics which do not allow focus to infinity. The glass in those that have them is apparently not very good so I'd stick with the others and use the lenses only up to wherever they focus. A 105mm might well be fine for portraits even with that restriction.

I wonder why there aren't any screw on infinity correction elements. It is the same principle as a close up lens but corrected for far sight instead of near. I am getting good results with close up lenses (reading glasses) So why not distance glasses for lenses.
