Many lenses designed for portrait or macro do not necessarily do as well in infinity. It used to be almost a choice of design, I believe. I expect the A is for infinity, the FA for portrait - but I did not own either, so I'm extrapolating from user comments. Will the DFA combine both qualities? That would be interesting.
