Pentax D FA* 85 1.4 Review and Video

I just released my review of the 85 1.4 into the wild as well as a video review of the lens - Maybe I'll find some time to add English subs in the next weeks - or someone has some spare time and wants to do that.

The review can be found here in English: Review HD PENTAX-D FA? 85mm F1.4 ED SDM AW - 85mm // photography

Here is the German version: Review HD PENTAX-D FA? 85mm F1.4 ED SDM AW - 85mm // photography

Thank you for your very interesting reviews, both in print and video.

Although I don't think I would acquire this lens for my APS-C kit, I am totally impressed without exception at its quality.

I already own the Sigma 85mm 1.4 and the Pentax 77mm 1.8 lens which I love, so no plans on buying this lens; But your review is greatly appreciated.

Nice review - and thank you for deciding to stay.
I had the 85mm for a brief period - large, several such lenses wouldn't be comfortable to carry, impressive from every point of view. It's AF seems just a tad slower than the D FA* 50mm's.

Thank you - Pentax's presence on YouTube is tiny, which translates into very few people being aware of the brand - it's not the fault of anybody here, but we can do something about it, as you have. Thank you again.

Thank you, great video! I already thought this when reading your review and you mention it in the video, too (with the same picture), the background isolatation of a subject can be almost brutal or artificial. Of course it depends on the background but with that one picture I thought wow!

And it's multipurpose as a mug! ;-) Seriously, they should make a mug from it for the fan shop.

Is there any chance you might a post a condensed version of the remote article as a review on this site? Doing so allows for ready comparison with other user's experience and if yours is more complete, may "dilute" contributions of lower quality.

Many thanks for the post, Stephen, and the links

Like @stevebrot I think it'd be awesome if you'd consider adding a condensed version of your English-language review to our reviews section. It would help ensure the quality and early average scores attributed to this impressive new lens.

Thanks in advance, and it's great to see you back

Wonderful the lens is stupendously sharp at 1.4 which is the main thing.
