Irix 150mm F2.8 Macro

Hi

I just received the Irix 150 macro. Happy with it, up to now.

I am surprised to see that the lens does not project any shadow using the onboard flash, at any distance. This review says the contrary:

Thanks !

Attached proof of lack of problems with onboard flash with K3, at 3 meters and at closest distance.

I suppose they had the hood on when the test for the review was made.

I suspect that comment about shadows was about the Irix 11 and 15mm lenses. I know the 11mm does do that on the KP, but the K-1 requires an external flash, and the extra height of the flash mostly eliminates the problem. That pulls the edge of the shadow back towards the feet, but then, my feet sometimes show up in the pictures, as well.

In the review, I mention that with the K-3 specifically, it creates a shadow when using the flash. That's indeed with the hood in place. As mentioned above and in the review, with the K-1 there is no onboard flash.

Yes, at close distances the hood blocks the light from the onboard flash. But taking it off removes this problem completely, with he K3. At medium distances there is no problem either even using the hood.

Hi, everybody

Problem of the Irix 150 with the Pentax 1.7 autofocusing adapter solved :-)

I have cut off the outer part of the diaphragm-lever in the adapter. There are no recent cameras that use it. For this reason, it is not a big loss.

I just bended the end a bit inside, cut it off with a regular wire-cutter, and bended it a bit back.

Here the result:
