the seller may not know anything about lenses. And probably when he was doing research to have the lens listed the 50mm F/1.2 came up and he probably thought that he have a gem. Probably just an innocent mistake. You guys shouldn't be too quick to jump on people like that.

I doubt he's on this list and if he was, he'd shortly be well informed.

I say - fire away, its funny. Greed + lack of knowledge = ... this thread!

I had a brush with similar on Craigslist; the seller initially wrote 1.2 until I asked him to confirm it wasn't 1:1.2... one can dream at least!
Now this is harking back memories of the original Wendy B. and her (apparent) confusion around 1:2 and 1:1.2. And then her bragging about having not one but several in her possession. ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH! Make it stop!!!!

This is a blatant fraudulent ebay scam auction.

List it at high price, but correctly described and detailed.

Someone mistakes it for 1:1.2.

Bam, easy money and the poor buyer is stuck with no case, because it was a tureful honest auction as a front.

Yup, I wrote them this morning:

Hi,

Just thought you might like to know that 1:2 is actually an F2
lens and not the highly sought after 1:1.2 (F1.2) 50mm lens.

Cheers.
and they just wrote back:

Hello,

Thank you very much for pointing this out to us. It was our mistake in research. We have lowered the fixed price.

Thank you again,
Topline, Inc.
I didn't feel right letting some sucker put a bid in on an incorrectly marked item...

last week there was a seller who listed not one but two lenses as a "rare 1:1.2" lens. Upon close inspection of the small and even worse very very blurry photo, one could definitely see it was a 1:2 lens.

I clicked the "Report this item" on both and notified eBay it was advertised as an item that usually fetches about "$500" but the very blurry photo shows it was in fact really a"$50 item". I did notify the seller on the 1st item. Me thinks this pattern is not accidental.

That auction just has "DUMBASS" written all over it, doesn't it?

An "A" lens for a K1000? Look, fella....just because you took it off of one doesn't mean it was made for one.

so i sent the seller a message that this lens can be bought at $199 at amazon, new. to stop bidding on his own product. he replied and told me to mind my own business

I emailed them and told them I would sell the one that is like new for $30. They emailed me back and said they made a mistake. The changed the add. I never use the 2.0. i have a FA 1.4 and a A 1.7. I also have a DA* 50-135mm. I should sell the A 2.0 and A1.7. My 1.7 looks like it just came out of the box. To bad there not made like that anymore. My DA* 50-135mm already has a defect where the hood mounts. iI my send that back to pentax and see if they would cover it under warranty.

Unless this is some one-of-a-kind prototype (I know it's not) I think this BIN price is off by one if not two orders of magnitude!

That is an incredibly rare, very special application lens.
