Zeiss 20mm F4 - m42 - aperture??

Okay I fell in love with a 20mm F2.8 so I took the plunge on a F4 out of curiosity...

Well. I don't understand how this one is going to work since it does not have a way to dial the aperture down with out pushing in the 'pin' or a little toggle on the side of the lens.. Does anyone else have experience with this lens and know how to get it to dial down manually?

i think some people have taped it down or perhaps you can try to open it up and fix the pin

I've heard that you can jam the pin using a bit of plastic tube cut from a pen. You know, the bit that holds the ink.

If your Zeiss 20/4 has the same rear structure as my Zeiss 25/4, the solution is very simple. Open the rear threaded cover and put something (about 4 mm thick, I just use aluminum foil) in where shown in attached picture to prevent the spring-loaded the ring from moving. Then put cover back on, done.

Or you could leave it as it is. This way you can focus wide open, then press and hold the "pin" using left thumb before pressing the shutter.

That's the ticket! This one has the exact mechanism. Very easy to access. Thanks for the heads up.
