You're going to the London show at the John Labatt Centre? Here's the camera policy on their website: John Labatt Centre

I don't know if they will have additional restrictions for that show, but a friend of mine is going so hopefully it will be a decent concert.

BTW, the distinction between "concerts" and "clubs" is key here to when to expect trouble. Anything where they print tickets ahead of time and collect them at the door - those tend to be the sorts of venues where "professional" cameras are not allowed.

Nice shots in the outdoor concert, BTW - but you're right on the money in expecting it to be much harder indoors :-)

Oops, I got the date wrong. It's Nov 13 in Sudbury. Wouldn't the artist or promoter's camera policy overrule the arenas?

Maybe he was drunk at the time (or something else), but I saw BD like 8 years ago and the concert sucked. Couldn't understand a thing he said, and the pot cloud was so thick, I could barely see the stage.

Anyway, I can't imagine it being any better today. Sorry to bust your bubble.
His latest alboms have been really strong, but I have seen video concerts that were as bad as you've described. I saw hin in 1973 with The Band, and it was truly great. From what I remember.

Wrap up...

I didn't bring a camera to the Dylan concert. They frisked everyone at the door. The sound was worse than typicallly atrocious stadium quality. He mixed oldies with material from newish albums. He clearly had no interest in singing the old stuff and shouted the lyrics unintelligibly. The band sounded like they were playing a diifferent song altogether. On the new songs everyone did a good job on, but the horrible acoustics were limiting. The crowd cheered their faces off, no matter how badly the band played any given song. I'm a huge Dylan fan, I have most of his albums, but I couldn't recognize some of the songs until they were half over. Definitely a concert for fans only.

Definitely check first to be sure you're allowed to bring your camera. Very often one is not allowed to bring "pro" gear to events like this - they check bags at the door. Anything bigger than a pack of cigarettes, they'll typically say "no".

From experience you definitely won't get n a Dylan concert with a DSLR. You won't even get to take 2 flash pictures with a P&S - they'll invite you out to the lobby after the first one.

And you really have to pay attention to the lyrics at a Dylan concert.
