Which Pentax lens do you most enjoy showing off to friends?

Which is your coolest Pentax lens? The one you most enjoy showing to non-photographer or occasional-photographer friends. I don't mean the "best" lens optically, or the one with the latest tech, or the most expensive, or the biggest. Just the one that you like to share because it is beautiful, or exotic, or surprising, or gloriously built, or whatever appeals to you.

For me it's the DA 40 Limited. It may very well be the most beautiful object I own. Purely based on its aesthetics, tough construction, simplicity of operation, ..., oh, and the delightfully clean images this little marvel produces, it is just a joy.

So what about you? Is there one lens in your collection that stands out for reasons other than the purely utilitarian? Maybe something ancient that you admire like a fine antique. Or a lens that gets people turning heads. Or one whose quirks make you smile.

Not easy question... I’d just say the slow 100WR Macro ... Just used it. But this is not fear. The excellent 70Ltd, or 31Ltd, or 20-40Ltd ... which one? I can’t say...

Hey Paul, a 2nd nomination for the wonderful SMC Pentax-D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro WR.
Most people don't get to see macro subjects often, but when they see pix from my " baby," it opens their eyes to the tiny world.

The Pentax 28mm Shift lens. It beckons to another era, slow to use but results that are stunning. It seems to speak to a quality, from the construction right down to the case with the embossed Pentax name. The only thing I miss is "autofocus" as a backup to my increasing less than perfect optics.

In the unlikely event that anyone was even interested in my camera gear, it would be the 31 FA Limited. It oozes class and rock solid construction.

The pancakes 21 and 40 usually get attention, and a fair bit of jealousy.

The 40 mm Limited - amazing imaging from such a compact, beautifully made, metal-bodied Pentax lens.

I don't think you're alone on that one.

It would probably be my old 40 XS. It looked more like body cap than a lens.

DA 40 XS; runners up would be my M 85 f2 or DA 15 SMC. All small, high quality optics, with few peers.

I rarely show off my photo gear to other people. Most people in my life are not really into photography, so there is little interest anyway, nor am I in the habit of expressly showing off stuff, given that it usually smacks a little of bragging to me. I don't hide the fact that I shoot Pentax, particularly when people get curious about what I'm using, and yes, my signature here on the Forums mentions my K-3, but I try not to boast about it either.

That said, I currently consider my smc DA35 Macro the "coolest" lens I own. I guess it's a combination of the Ltd. build, the form factor, the gorgeous IQ, but perhaps most importantly that I have really come to appreciate both its standard and macro capabilities over the past two years. I knew since aquiring and trying it out that it was a competent lens, but I used it fairly little, much less than now at least, perhaps because it forces you to compose without the more extreme views afforded by some of my other lenses.
