Browsing Pentax SMC FA 31mm f/1.8 Limited pics, thinking of getting it for my K1 II, I spotted a silver version with the limited written in red. Would someone know this a newer version of this lens......my apologies, the photo I was looking at was the Pentax SMC FA 43mm Limited. The red limited is on the front of the lens. Others just have white writing

I own a silver one and it was a used copy that is not very young... What is "newer" would be a matter of perspective, but as far as I know there silver copies of this lens have always looked this way.

I would think the red lettering is either a permanent hallmark of that lens, or that it was applied with older versions. Was this one MIJ?

Looking quickly at google images, I see Made In Japan versions of the FA43 with the Limited written in both white and red. I saw red markings on both low serial numbers and high serial numbers, and I've seen both white and red on both black and silver MIJ 43s. I'm sure there is some rhyme or reason, but who knows.

For the FA31, I've only ever seen Limited written in red.

Both my 43 Limited and 31 Limited were bought the day they were released. The 43 has white Limited, the 31 red.

My very early silver versions are: 43 white Limited, 31 and 77 red Limited

Thanks for the replies.So iy looks like with the 43mm there is both white and red lettering on the front of the lens. I will try and see if there is a serial number
