DA* 16-50 lens hood PH RBJ 77mm

I just picked up a used DA* 16-50. It came with PH RBJ 77mm hood. The hood does not mount properly. I have lined it up with the guide dots and it snaps into place, but askew. I have been mounting Pentax lens hoods for decades but this has me stumped. It seems to attach nicely in the grooves but goes to far before it snaps into place. Thanks if you have a cure.

How are you liking yours? I also bought one this year and I am pleasantly surprised with it. I could have bought a Tamron or Sigma 17-50 but I couldn't get over how pleasing the 16-50 pictures seem to look...

My hood works well and snaps into place. Nothing tricky about it. I suspect yours must have some little part broken off - it is plastic after all. I would just try to get another one.

The odd thing is that the hood is intact and very clean. The connections slip together just as they are supposed to but it appears that the bayonet connector on the lens is misaligned. It connects firmly and easily but the petals on the tulip are out of alignment by about 30 degrees. I will have to send it back, I think.

Well that is a shame. But if it's not as described... I guess you do what you have to do...
