Panagor 24mm/f2.5 (m42 thread)

I recently found a Panagor 24mm/f2.5 for not too much. I was wondering if anyone knows this brand or this lens. Is it any good? Do you have any pictures taken with it?

I'm wondering, since 24mm with m42 is hard to find. It's gonna be a while before I get to develop a film, so maybe you guys have any thoughts/comments on the lens in the mean time?

Thanks!

Here's what I've found so far that could have to do with your lens,

Panagor PMC 24mm f2.5 - FM Forums
(could be a relabeled Kiron 24/2 ?)

Panagor PMC Auto Wide Angle 24mm 1:2.5 - K mount on Flickr - Photo Sharing!
(This is the first female gear-head I have seen!)

Seems to be a good idea to use a big enough sunshade. Would be interesting to know also which lens you actually have. Basically it always boils down to identify the original manufacturer, since Panagor, Vivitar, Sears and the likes never have produced a single lens but put labels on lenses from other suppliers.

The last link you sent is identical to my lens, except this is an M42 screw wire mount, not a bayonet.

But that's at least some more info, thanks for that. I'll just have to wait and develop a film to see the result, unless anyone already knows/uses this lens (or the same one with a different brand name) and can show us something. More info on the lens is also appreciated.

Wide & fast... If it doesn't have a lot of lens artifacts it could be a good Milky Way lens.

Just got this lens few days ago...
I'm very shure that this lens is a Komine made lens. I use a vivitar 55mm f2.8 macro (serial 28xxx) and this Panagor looks very similar to it in terms of the construction (bayonet part) and finish (focus ring rubber pattern). The distance scale is exactly the same as on the Komine made Vivitar 24mm f2.0. But it is only f2.5.

Also have the Panagor 28mm f2.0, which is an exact copy of the Kiron 28mm f2.0 (without the close focussing ability of the Kiron built Vivitars).

Both fine lenses that are not known as much as their 'Vivitar' counterparts.

Panagor was the name of Kiron (Kino Precision Industries) before they decided to market their lenses abroad. They are good lenses. My Panagor 24 f/2.5 focuses very close and with good results.

They are early Kiron lenses. Made by Panagor-Kiron. They are not made by Komine.

Kino Precision Industries was founded in 1959 and they made lenses for Soligor, JacaCorporation (Panagor, Elicar), and Tapal International (Elicar).

Some Panagor lenses have been made by Kino, and could be regarded as 'early' Kiron lens, such as the 28m f2.0.
Others have been made by Komine, such as the Panagor 55mm f2.8 and Panagor 90mm f2.8 macro lenses. Both are also sold as Vivitar and they are clearly Komine made lenses, since their Vivitar brothers' serials start with 28. Same lenses can be found as Elicar.

I rate the Komine built lenses higher than the Kiron built ones; had 3 different 28mm f2.0 Vivitars and a 28mm f2.0 Kiron and ALL had sticky, slow aperture blades. Performance wide open left a lot to be desired. I use 3 Komine made Vivitars (28mm f2.0 Close focusing, 55mm f2.8 Macro, 135mm f2.8 Close focusing) and they're all fine both mechanically and optically.

Doesn't this Vivitar look familiar? The serial is 28xxx... sure the aperture ring is black instead of silver coloured but the lens is identical with the Panagor.
The Panagor 24mm f2.5 without any doubt is Komine built
