So, how many were made, by series?

I see there is a nice video posted about the SMC Takumar 20mm F/4.5 and that had me wondering how many were made, which lead to the thought about M series lenses.

They are so common and available for so little money most of them that they must have been made in the hundreds of thousands.

Is there a listing anywhere with production estimates?

I would think the most common will be the lovely M 50 f1.7, my copy is a fine lens and in great condition picked up for about £32 years ago.

I knew but I can't remember it now.
I seems to remember that they made 1.5 million F-series lenses.....
I have it written down somewhere....

That is very impressive if true. Current production is much, much less. M and A series were likely produced in even greater numbers, going by the
relative abundances available now. Of course, the vast majority of those F series lenses are kit lens zooms.

Yes. There were millions. The F-series was the least sold one. It was rather short lived.....
I might have the numbers on one of my old PC (20 years or so). See if I find the time one day.
The source for the numbers was a Pentax employee.....

I believe I remember that they sold 1.5 million 110 lenses as well: a surprisingly (to me) high number....

These are huge numbers, like motor car production rates.

There were 6 110 lenses, so that's like 5 of them to 300,000 people.
