The DA 12-24 is one of my all time favorite lens and the Canon 17-40 L lens. I compare it to the Canon as that is my barometer. The Pentax is brutally sharp. Love it!

How about Option 3: 2nd body??

One camera for the 14mm, and one camera for the 28-75mm, and then you won't have to worry about changing lenses!
I have considered a second body but if I go that route, that second body will be the k30D and my k100D will be given to wifey So still not a solution for my needs. Also it is too cumbersome to carry 2 bodies for weekend photo shots.

You can get the amazing DA16-45 for very cheap. I find it's enough range but you might not.
Hmm...if I get the 16-45, how does that compliment the setup? Then I would be using 14mm, 16-45, 28-75? there will be a big overlap between the 16-45 and 28-75.

The thing is that if you're finding you're swapping a lot from your 28-75 to go wider, you're going to be swapping the same amount with any wide angle you replace the 14mm with. If you want to swap less then you have to have something that covers a wider range. You need to swap out the tammy. Or maybe replace both with the DA* 16-50 ?
Good thought. But two probs I will face:
1. I can't guarantee to get myself a good copy of DA* 16-50. I think the Tammy 17-50 also has QC issues to begin with?
2. I have saved up for the 70-200/f2.8 for a long time now to replace my 50-200. If I do, I will then have another gap between 16-50 and 70-200. Prolly back to square 1 again?

Thanks for all your recommendations. They are helpful thoughts. I am wanting to know what is your walkaround lens at the moment? I think it is because I have selected the Tammy 28-75 that seems to have caused my current problems.

The 12-24 is really a runner ! I find the 14mm a little bit limited, if I can say so

My walkaround lens depends on which body I'm carrying with me...
On the K20, it's the 16-45. On the K200, it's the F35-70.

If I were in your shoes, I'd most likely get a DA21 that will fit in between the DA14 and the 28-75.

Apparently I misread your situation. I did not think that for every outing you'd need from 14-75mm. I sure don't. In fact I'm happy to go out with two fixed primes.

Better ignore me on this issue.
