I thought... "Heck! it focuses all my Pentax AF lenses " and put my purchase via ebay.

I don't really need "able to capture erratic toddler running towards me" fast.
I just need reasonable (5yrs back CDAF) + CDAF type accuracy.
The eye focus, face focus, tracking will all be big bonuses.


Will try to give a review when I get it in early March.
AF lenses I have:
DA15, DA40XS, FA35/2, FA50/1.4, FA*85, 31/43/77, F100macro, FA135/2.8, F*300, FA*80-200
and they are all in the list of supported lenses. (V2 firmware)

Adapter only supports PDAF, but eye AF still works...
AF performance heavily depends on the lens and also there is a lag due to aperture closing.
The best parts are EXIF and focal length is used for IBS.

In my (still so far limited) testing, old Limited lens perform great, original DA (40 and 50) are good and FA (like 50/1.4) might vary a lot.

Does anyone know what the problem is with the adapter and the HD HD* 16-50 PLM? They managed to include the new 21 in the 02 firmware but seem to have missed the new 16-50. All my other lenses seem to work ok.

It appears that neither the HD DA 16-50 plm or the 55-300 PLM are supported so the issue seems to be that the adapter does not support PLM lenses. Hopefully, that will be fixed in the next firmware. The adapter has real potential.

MonsterAdapter published on the 1st of January the v03 firmware of their LA-KE1 Pentax K to Sony E electronic AF adapter.

LA-KE1 firmware v03 released, the third G Driver II empowered lens adapter from MonsterAdapter – MonsterAdapter

By following LA-EA4r and LA-FE1, new firmware of LA-KE1 v03 also adds new focus drive algorithm: G Driver II, which effectively improves the auto focus performance of K-mount screw-driven lenses on Sony mirrorless cameras (including AF-S single focus and AF-C continuous focus).

According to the team tests, the focusing speed in many scenes has been able to equal or exceed the Pentax SLRs on latest E-mount cameras.

1. Added G Driver II focus algorithm, supported cameras gets faster focus speed (See supported cameras and notes)
2. More lenses supported, over 60 lenses now
3. Two AF teleconverters supported
4. Fixed AF issue of some type FA 50mm f1.4 due to different lens data
5. Improves the overall stability

Note 1: G Driver needs the support by the camera, please see the list of compatible bodies. In case of a suitable camera, the adapter will automatically enable the G Driver I or II, and other cameras will continue to use the existing driver.

Note 2: Due to lens technical reasons, G Driver for LA-KE1 is only available for screw-driven lenses supported by LA-KE1, lenses with SDM/DC/PLM motors will continue to use existing focus algorithm. If the lens is a dual-drive lens, the screw-driven mode can support G Driver, while the SDM mode will continue to use existing one.

Want to use K-Mount lenses on a Sony body? Pentax Japan now has you covered. They’re selling kits of lenses with the Monster adapter.
