+1 to the Pentax HD 1.4 TC. I use it with my FA*300 f4.5, so that's similar to you, JVA.

Keep in mind that the HD DA 1.4x TC is designed for APS-C, and thus will vignette on the K-1.
It's very little with the FA*300. Can't say what it is with the F*300, but my guess is it would be very little also.

Thanks for the advice. I had mistakenly thought I remembered that it was introduced together with the new full frame lenses. This is an important consideration.

there is this from the in depth review of the Pentax-DA 1.4x AW AF Rear Converter

QuoteQuote:
. . . We mounted the converter on a film body and did not notice any particular vignetting in the viewfinder with lenses 20mm or longer. This is not to say that the converter will be usable in practice with a full frame DSLR should Pentax release one, since firmware could prevent its use . . . .

Hood

This is that combo on my Sony A7R2:

Wide open/close focus:
Vignetting Test FA* 300 w/HD DA 1.4x (#1) by -vanya_42nd-

Stopped down to f22/long focus:
Vignetting Test FA* 300 w/HD DA 1.4x (#2) by -vanya_42nd-

Iíd say the level of vignetting of this combo is variable with more issues when stopped down. I didnít see focus distance making any real difference. Ignore the red spot on the f22 one it is from an item unintentionally left at the edge of the frame.
