Oh no! That's for Walt Disney!

If there is a god somewhere, I hope he would
1. Sanction starbursts
2. Make peace on earth.

In that order.

Oh, my. Respectfully, those starbursts are really ugly. They do not compare with what the 15 or 21 can deliver.

Every lens review I wrote for Pentaxforums includes a subsection about starbursts, that's a good starting points.

The best lenses I've tested (and that's a lot) are the 15, 21, 43. The FA20-35 isn't bad either but needs to be stepped down a bit. The 70 is indeed pretty good but isn't a full frame lens. The FA24 and FA31 are also good, but with more rays in the case of the 31, almost too many.
I wasn't asking you for your critique of the photo, you can't say "respectfully" and "ugly" in the same sentence! It was only posted as a "sample" just to say "there are alternatives" to purchasing a lens, but thank you for your comment! Other less "ugly" photos done with a filter can be found here! This article doesn’t address Pentax much but in it he talks about the merits of various aperture designs. Additionally he talks about the filters used for this and their shortcomings: rainbow, unequal length rays, overlap with diffraction spikes from lens aperture. Even with the limitations sometimes it may be appropriate to use such a filter.

Great minds think alike?

This article has a good roundup of lenses that can produce starbursts. Only a few lenses from Pentax get mentioned: the 15mm and the 21mm Limiteds.

This thread has taken a bit of a tangent lately ... but I agree with previous posters with the SMC DA 15mm Limited.

I saw your link and agree that great minds do think alike. My additional point was to call out the criticism of the filter approach.

Fa 31 on crop KP:

FA 31 starburst tests by -vanya_42nd-

To my eye it is weaker than the 15/21. Heck the fa 35 is more credible. The FA 31 has too many weak spikes (18).

Permit me a stupid question. Why not use a filter? There are many available, so you get the one that achieves the desired effect with the lens you already have.

There's always the Lomography Daguerreotype Achromat 64mm f/2.9. With the appropriate Waterhouse aperture plate, of course.

An example was shared above. Leaving aside personal opinions as to the beauty of the result, it's a different look from a starburst produced directly by the lens.

While not the best, I was pretty surprised of the quality of starburst produced by the M75-150.

Yes,it is, but an option nonetheless. Is it possible to couple the Starburst filters with Starburst produced by the lens?
