Zeiss Distagon T* 3,5/18 ZK

I just received this e-mail:

Dear Valued Customer,

As you requested we'd like to inform you that the new Distagon T* 3,5/18 ZK with K bayonet mount is now available for purchase.

You can find a list of your nearest dealers as well as the link to our online shop directly on our website:

Website: Welcome to Carl Zeiss Camera and Cine Lenses
Online-Shop: http://www.zeiss.com/photo/shop (backorder)

Very best regards.

The "Valued Customer" part is a bit exaggerated, well, even completely wrong: I don't own any Zeiss lenses ( if you dont count my old sunglasses).

I just thought I'd share this with the forum.

Don't get too exited though: 1,149.00 € (including 19% VAT)

Luminous Landscape did a short comparison v Nikon's vaunted 14-24mm zoom and it appeared to better. i think many people will be more interested in the 21mm

as i mentioned in another thread (a long time ago), this lens would have to be super sharp and super distortion-less to justify its speed and cost

there are just too many alternatives to something like this, within any brands lens arsenal.

The lens everyone is waiting on is the Zeiss Distagon T* 21/2.8 in the Canon, Nikon and Pentax mounts. The old Contax 21/2.8 is known to be the best super wide ever made.

Won't be exactly super wide for Pentax mount any time soon.
