Sigma 400mm lens reviews

I've got a Sigma 400mm lens with virtually no identifying info about it. A fellow forum member here asked me to post a user review for it, but I'm not sure which page to post it on! Here are 3 pages for similar lenses, but none of the product photos match the one I have.

Sigma (AF and MF) 400mm F5.6 APO v2, 1988
Sigma / Carl Zeiss Jena (AF and MF) 400mm F5.6 IF MC multicoated
Sigma 400mm F5.6 APO (AF) v3: 1995 >

Is it better just to post my review under one that already has some reviews, or would it be better to "Add a New Lens" into the database and upload some proper identifying photos? Mine is not APO, so I guess that rules out 2 of the above links, but neither does it look like any of the photos in the 3rd link...
Here are a few photos of my lens.

Here's the only identifying documentation that I have for it (apart from the markings on the lens itself).

Any advice would be appreciated!

From the pictures it looks like the first version (sigma carl zeiss) as I don't see APO on the lens or paperwork.

I have had the second version and it should have APO on the outside of the lens.

I also had the third version which is the telemacro. The first 2 versions have 72mm filter threads and the third version has 77mm filter threads.

Hope this helps!

Thanks! I guess I'll post my review on this page then: Sigma / Carl Zeiss Jena (AF and MF) 400mm F5.6 IF MC multicoated Lens Reviews - Sigma Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

Is there any way to add one of my lens product photos to the "featured" photos so others will see that this page is the right place for this particular lens?

I can do that for you. A pic approx 1200px wide, 3 x 2 with a bit of space BR corner for the pentax forums logo, is good. Put one somewhere I can download if you like, or here.

That one looks like the APO version, unless I'm mistaken. Mine is the non APO version. They do look quite similar though!

According to the description of the OPs first link, it shows a silver version of the APO AF lens, and the write up states that the APO and non APO lenses are essentially mechanically optically similar.

If the lens does not say APO, it is not APO thatís really the difference

Essentially mechanically and structurally similar, optically very different. The non apo is a relatively simple optical design (though I haven't been able to locate a spec, the sigma history lists the lens - 1981 - but no link to a specification page), the apo was a big increase in sophistication with 11 elements/8 groups.

I was just quoting what the write up was in the link

Read it!

Well I realised that the description (which I wrote originally) didn't read as clearly as it should so I just changed it a bit, but even before that it said what I said: "structurally and mechanically similar" (but not optically)
