Thanks everyone.

I will indeed initiate further researching, into other vendors. 'don't rightly know where it (my efforts) will take me, but it doesn't really matter that much because new & better things will be coming down the pike before (I am hoping) too long.

The FA 50mm, the descendant of all the fast 50's through the years, is still in production. The problem is that there is a lot more demand than they expected, so when they show up they tend to sell out fast.

Adorama will let you pre-order, and when they get it in they'll send it to you.

Hi,
I got my 50mm F1.4 together with my K10D, until now I'm still trying to get use to this new lens focusing. Took this picture the other day trying to mimic a macro shoot. Took a number of shoots but only this one turns out better than the rest.Name: Flower pentax forum.jpg

Thanks, I think that's because I have taken out 80% of the whole picture and only focus on the 20% part

I like the M glass a lot, but you tossed in the FA which has gives one the ability to focus on a subject much quicker. Still knowing that, I'll choose the M for comparable IQ, at a astonishingly low price (vs. FA) to boot.

I want one of these FA's for freakin concert shots. I have a M50 1.7(which I love), but if there's alot of movement, that's where the FA would come in handy.

Why is this lens produced in such small numbers? There's only 3 to 4 lenses I'd like to get, and then my LBA would be slowed a lil bit. Those are the sigma 28-70/2.8 or tamron 28-75/2.8, sigma 70-300 APO(would love to have the 70-200/2.8), and pentax FA50/2.8, and sigma 28-200 or 300 for vacation when I don't want to carry the whole lens family around.

Right now I'm trying to debate which lens to get first out of the FA50 and 70-300APO...

Actually thanks Alvin haha. I actually was just wondering how the older primes compared to the FA 50 that everyone seems go crazy about.

So the M 50/1.4 is better than the Original K and the A version right?

Some say M some say A some say FA. To be truthful I think a mouse would starve on the differences between the 4.

Hi Freddy.

I wasn't able to contact B&H, before a moment ago, what with the passing of a family member. But I just learned (from Peter, there) that it was still out-of-stock. He even went on to say that this particular lens had been discontinued. So, I'll just try a few other places - to see if they just happen to have one left, or look into something else.

Thanks, though.
I recently (within the last couple weeks) picked up a Pentax brochure from my local shop. It was a fresh publication including the K10D in it. I picked it up 'cause it included their lens line up. It lists the FA50 1.4 as a CURRENT lens. It may be hard to track it down along with many other lenses on their list, but the local rep claims if they are on that list they are still to be had.

I can only say from the ones I tried at Henry's (K55/2, M50/1.4, M50/1.7, M50/2 and FA50/1.4) I wish I could have snapped the FA when I saw it though.

I'm just wondering cuz everyone seems to value the FA's AF ability greatly but they are all still the same optical design right? the price difference is pretty high though. You can get like 2-3 manual 50/1.4 for the price of an FA 50.

Ok I think I'm sticking with the M 50 as my next target...far away yes but I can't help but think about what wonders 1.4 can do for me indoors. Plus I'm a sucker for manual lenses. I can't imagine how that focus ring is like on the FA 50.
