I don't think I have any significant regrets. Even though I have some lenses that are not in rotation most were inexpensive. The main sequence would be in telephoto lenses.

Started with a sears 70-200 that was my dad's from 78 or 79 when I ended up with his k1000 in the mid 80s. That was eventually replaced with a 100-300 promaster that I purchased with my zx-10 in the mid 90s. At the long end it is 6.3 or 6.7. but I don't regret either they worked with the budget.

Here is where the chasing and regrets start to creep in. I purchased a sigma
18-200 thinking one lens would solve all my needs. It is softer and slower than I like. I paid $100. it gets used a little. Then few years ago I started shooting more sports with the k3 I purchased another promaster this time 70-300 f5.6. it is better and I have some good shots (all in bright sun) but I probably only used it for 6 months. I think I paid $20 so I got my money's worth. But at the same time I picked up a the dal 50-200 wr for $50 it only gets used in bad weather. In hindsight $170 would have been better spent on a pentax 18-135.

I now use a tamron 70-200 f2.8 which I love. But having the 18-135 would have been a nice addition

I also have a 200 f4.5 3rd party manual focus that I paid $15. It has only been used a couple times. But it was the cost of a lunch

I still have all of the lenses in question

I almost instantly regretted selling my FA 100 macro, not sure why I did but it did focus the mind and the bonus was I replaced it with the DFA 100 just a few short weeks later.

I am ROFLMAO at that comment!!!!
But rest assured, the DA*60-250 didn't give you a hang over and make you feel bad for an entire day!
I dunno, mounting a lens and finding out it has suddenly dead motor is not a great way to make the day start well.

I would have bought several bottles of good Scotch rather than the DA*60-250.
The Scotch would have worked as intended, and probably for a longer time.
I have invariably found that scotch makes my photographs look better. Not so with all lenses.

I couldn't sell my FA 100 Macro so I gave it to my brother. It's his favorite lens.

I sort of regret selling my Pentax F*300 although it did fund my new camera acquisition. Buy my most regrettable lens I ever sold was the awesome Tokina SD 100-300mm F4. It was sharp and just a joy to use. But several years later I was able to stumble upon a very nice copy from Roberts Camera and pounced on it for only $87 dollars! I'm not going to make that mistake again. This one will stay with me for a very long time.

Check this Tokina out at 300mm.....

When the K10 came out I jumped from film, got the DA70 Limited and 35mm Macro Limited to go with it, as they seemed to both be great prime lenses

- really didnt get the DA70, it seemed too small for the K10 and performance wasnt anthing special, so I got rid. Still wonder if I should have hung on to it and persisted

I never did use the 70 on the K10/K20. I was using, sometimes fighting with, the K5. I quite liked the 70 on that camera for size and balance, and as long as the light was consistent daylight, I got nice pictures from the K5 and 70.
Honestly, I didn't think the 77 was all that much better, heresy that it is to say.

Never have I regretted a lens. I feel it was always the best choice at the time I got it.

One lens I didn't regret but didn't enjoy was the FA 20-35mm. That's a rare occurrence of a lens I didn't really enjoy using.

I regret, in a way, purchasing the 15 limited. I love the way it feels and the way it looks and the images it produces....basically I love everything about it other than the focal length. Each time I look at it I feel a sense of regret not really because I'm sorry I bought it but because its simply never being used. I shouldve thought about how wide I enjoy shooting before buying. Ive had some unused lenses throughout the years but the 15 is the only one that makes me feel almost guilty for keeping it locked up

I can see my DA 15 getting a lot more love once my K3iii arrives. I mostly shoot the K1, with my old K3 only going out with the 150-450 for birding duties.

I definitely feel ya. My HD15 - actually, all my DA Ltds - deserves far more run than it actually gets.
