The title says it all.

How about you?

Me: plenty. Too much, actually. I should try to get more focus to what I am good at. Telephoto and Macro work. Less wide angle lenses.

Perhaps we should run another poll;

Of the number of lenses you own (me in the 6 to 10 section, which also appears to be the leader of the poll), how many do actually use on a regular basis (actually for me 4).

What's worse than that, is I still carry the rest about with me every day, why I ask.

I would say too many (12+), from the point of view that I only use about half of the lenses that I own regularly. Some of the lenses that only get occasional use are dedicated special purpose (ie. 100mm macro bellows lens) so I don't feel quite as bad about them sitting around, but there are a couple that I will probably pass off to friends or relatives as a starter kit if they ever buy a Pentax body.

What I have total (12 lenses) and use regularly (bold text).

I expect the DA35 to get some heavy use when it gets here. That will most likely be at the expense of the Sigma 24-60, which I will probably use more for events than for everyday shooting.

Primes:
Kitstar 28mm/F2.8
Vivitar 35mm/F2.8
Pentax DA35mm/2.8 Ltd (on the way)
Pentax FA50mm/F1.4
Yashinon-DS 50mm/F1.4
Industar-61 50mm/F2.8
SMC Takumar 55mm/F1.8

Zooms:
Pentax DA 10-17mm
Pentax DA 12-24mm/F4
Sigma EX DG 24-60mm/F2.8
Pentax DA* 50-135mm/F2.8

I was thinking the same thing. I own six lenses (including two 50s, does that count) but 2 are ALWAYS in my bag (A-50 f1,4 and Sigma 17-70), one is nealry always in the bag (Viv s1 70-210).

The M-50 f2 doesn't get used now that I have the A, and the others have almost never been used, even though I keep telling myself I should put them in the bag, since they're interesting (GOOD versions of the Takumar bayonets 28 mm f2,8 and 135 f2,8). In particular, the 28 mm should be used more in low light.

I've got 9 lenses. I have to admit it makes my photo taking situations a bit frenetic. I need to learn to keep one lens on the camera and be a bit more creative with it.

It's so easy to think, "This shot would work better with my other lens." and miss the shot.

we need 2 other categories, and the ability to enter multiple selections.

Missing categories are Too many, and Not enough, and those with LBA and who recognize it, would check both

I have, counting my spotting scope, which I have a camera adaptor for,

10 primes

24mm F2.5 Tamron Adaptall 2
35mm F2 SMC Takumar (m42)
50mm F1.4 SMC-Pentax
50mm F2 XR Rikenon
100mm F4 SMC-M Macro
105mm F2.8 SMC-Pentax
135mm F2.5 SMC-Pentax
300mm F4 SMC-Pentax
400mm F5.6 MC- Vivitar
100mm F11 Celestron C90 with T mount

Additionally I have 7 zooms

sigma APO 10-20 F4-5.6 EX DC
Pentax FA-J 18035 F3.5-4.5
Tamron 28-75 F2.8
Pentax FA 28-80 F3.5-4.6 (Power Zoom)
Pentax FA 28-105 F4-f5.6 (Power Zoom)
Sigma APO 70-200 F2.8 EX (non macro non DG)
Vivitar Series 1 70-210 F3.5 Macro (Version 1)

This does not count teleconverters, of which I have 6, 3 which I use, 3 which occupy space on the shelf at present

In the past 3 months, I have shot with every one except the 50mm F2 XR Rikenon. Although not seriously with the 400 mmF5.6

What I carry on any given day is a function of what I plan to do, it can be as little as one body with a lens, to 4 zooms and 2-3 primes.

From reading the various threads on this post, I now know why the airlines have weight limits on bags..........................................................

If we all got on with this lens selection the damn thing would never get off the ground.

Well, not having kids I've taken fallen (willing) victim to LBA and have lots of lenses that I use in regular lineups:

The Zooms
DA 12-24/f4
DA* 16-50mm f/2.8
DA* 50-135mm f/2.8
DA 55-300mm
Sigma 100-300mm f/4

The Primes
Vivitar 24mm f/2.8
Sigma 30mm f/1.4
FA 31mm f/1.8
K 50mm f/1.2
FA 50mm f/1.4
FA 77mm f/1.8
A* 85mm f/1.4
Sigma MACRO 70mm f/2.8
Tamron 135mm f/2.5
Tamron SP 300mm f/2.8

When I travel to the Carribbean or somewhere a little 'poorer', I tend to take:
12-24, 16-50, 30, 55-300

For nature or travel around North America:
12-24/16-50, 70mm, either the 100-300mm or 300mm

For people photography
16-50 & 50-135 or
31, 50, 77 or 85

And for wandering around on the street (to be a little less conspicuous)
24, 31, 77

Both my 50mm lenses and my 24mm are my least used. My FA 50 will likely be sold to help fund the DA* 55mm when it's out. My f/1.2 will see more use once I get my manual focus housing shimmed so that things are actually in focus :-)
