Lens cleaning question (Sigma 100-300 F/4)

Well, I must admit that I'm the proud new owner of a Sigma 100-300 F/4 EX DG APO lens. IT'S AWESOME!!! Auto-focus is almost instantaneous.

Got the lens and the Sigma DG multi-layer 82mm filter yesterday and noticed the filter had a smudge. No problem one would think as I pulled out the handy lens cloth and expected the smudge to disappear. WRONG. The filter has some type of oily/gooky/harder than the devil stuff on it that I can't get off. I've got it where most people wouldn't notice it, BUT I do. What types of cleaners does everyone out there use for their lenses?

i read bosrds about disassembly of lens to clean them. a lot of the coating are on the inside of the lens. a lot of these people use acetone for the really tough stuff.

A PEC pad and Eclipse in the field. Sometimes a good optical glass cleaner like for eyeglasses and a microfiber cloth. For real gunk: ROR (Residual Oil Remover) and either cloth--www.ror.net.

i'll bet that's the same as eclipse. 100% grain alcohol.
greg, you can also use white lightening. the sell it in liquor stores. 190 proof will work fine.
