K to E adapter with aperture control

Hi everyone,

Iíve been having a heck of a time tracking down a decent adapter that will let me use my DFA100mm macro on my Sony. I canít find anything that has an aperture ring, but Iíve heard people talk about them before.

Does anyone know of an adapter that will let me use older lenses without an aperture ring? I donít care about AF at all, as long as I can set aperture and the thing doesnít leak light or randomly drop my lens.

Thanks!

I have two.

Haoge Lens Mount Adapter for Pentax DA Mount Lens to Sony E Mount NEX Camera Such as a3000 a3500 a5000 a5100 a6000 a6400 a6500 A7 A7R A7S A7II A7RII A7SII A7III A7RIII A9 VG10 VG20 VG30 VG900 FS7 FS5 amazon.com : Haoge Lens Mount Adapter for Pentax DA Mount Lens to Sony E Mount NEX Camera Such as a3000 a3500 a5000 a5100 a6000 a6400 a6500 A7 A7R A7S A7II A7RII A7SII A7III A7RIII A9 VG10 VG20 VG30 VG900 FS7 FS5 : Camera & Photo?tag=pentaxforums-20&

And

K&F Concept Lens Adapter Ring for Pentax DA K to Sony E Mount a6000 a6300 a6500 a5000 a5100 a3500 a3000 Alpha A7 A7R a7S a7II a7RII a7SII a7III a7RIII and a9 amazon.com : K&F Concept Lens Adapter Ring for Pentax DA K to Sony E Mount a6000 a6300 a6500 a5000 a5100 a3500 a3000 Alpha A7 A7R a7S a7II a7RII a7SII a7III a7RIII and a9 : Camera & Photo?tag=pentaxforums-20&

These donít have an aperture ring exactly but you can mine the control that says on/off on the Hogue to infinitely control aperture blindly - you have to dial in the wide open exposure and slowly stop down seeing the change in exposure to estimate the actual aperture or dial in the right aperture on a k Mount and use bulb or a long exposure to see what the aperture looks like and the dial in that amount using the adapter.

The K&F is gorgeous but my copy wonít stay fully open on many lenses. The ďapertureĒ ring has several clicks and this can be helpful. I recall Pepperberry Farm has the same adapter and indicated his didnít try to close the aperture unlike mine. The control using the click positions are a bit crude. You have less infinite control over aperture but it is more repeatable.

The Novoflex adapters are said to be very good but they are not cheap. The one you want is USD234.

as noted above, I have the K&F adapter, but for a Fuji body (not Sony)...

the K&F has a rudimentary aperture control but works well enough - the adapter is the typically nice build that K&F is known for...

I have not used this adapter, however, with any lenses that do not have an aperture ring, so no experience with the lens in question, either...

Two pictures showing the DFA 100mm macro WR mounted on a Sony A7ii via the Novoflex adapter mentioned above are attached. I have never actually used this lens on the Sony.

Turning the knurled blue ring on the Novoflex adapter will open and close the aperture from fully closed (leftmost position) to fully open (rightmost position).

The first picture shows the adapter in the wide open position. The second picture shows the adapter lens aperture somewhere between fully closed and fully open.

There are no "click" stops so it is a guess as to what the actual aperture might be.

Additionally, sometimes it appears that the knurled ring rotates some small amount prior to the aperture changing (i.e., there is some ring travel before engaging the aperture lever).

Postscript: I am another member of the club that has a Sony body and does not have any E Mount lenses.

I have this one: amazon.com : Fotodiox Lens Mount Adapter - Pentax K AF Mount (PKAF) DSLR Lens to Sony Alpha E-Mount Mirrorless Camera Body with Built-in Aperture Control Dial : Camera & Photo?tag=pentaxforums-20&
and I'am very pleased with it.

Best regards,

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the answers. The novoflex one looks great, a bit out of budget though. Iím going to give the fotodiox one a try, since it looks like the easiest one to ship up to me here in the great white north.

(Side note, the 100mm always seemed so compact to me, but it just dwarfs the Sony &#128514

Does it actually control the aperture lever on the lens, or does it feature its own iris?

Iím pretty sure it works just like the two I posted which both control the aperture of the lens by engaging the aperture lever.

OK, so newer lenses won't be controlled then.

UncleVanya is correct. It is purely mechanical and low-tech. The attached picture shows the tab that rotates to physically engage/move the aperture lever when the knurled ring is turned.

Maybe, it depends on what you mean. I use mine on the DFA 100 and other lenses without issue. Terminology on my part may have confused you. The aperture lever as shown in the post before this isnít the aperture ring. But lenses like the dfa 85 that have electronic aperture arenít able to be controlled in this way.

For some reason, this one hasn't been mentioned before. It is exactly what the OP needs. Even AF is on the menu.

The preorder link on B&H shows the Monster LA-KE1 with an expected availability of May 6, 2021. Time will tell...

Unfortunately for me, a likely prohibitive price tag.
