For the lens heaters, you can look to the telescope aficionados for advice; here's a DIY article:

Most of my lens "manuals" from Pentax read the same and they have been series wide and not specific to the lens, but like Sandy said you just put in on your camera and go. I also don't remember anything about the lens warmer (which I was interested in at the time) other than one could be put on it. Have fin with it. It's a great lens!

Hi Michail. Is your post directed at me?

I have actually had the DA* 11-18 for nearly two years, and as I use it exclusively on a crop camera I can enjoy the full focal range with no trouble at all.

It is very well corrected - distortion is minimal at all focal lengths, so it makes a great architecture lens. I would love to see Mykonos through your eyes with that lens
Sorry, it was a multi-quoting gone wrong...lol...
Seems like a great lens. Glad to hear about the distortion, gonna matter for me. It will be a great investment when the time is right.

I just bought one and there is no guide whatsoever in the box, except for a warranty paper and serial number card. Usually the manual for a lens somehow is part of the camera manual where they explain how to take a picture and make all the settings.

Mine didn't have one either and it came straight from Ricoh imaging U.S., it just had the warranty card. I'm with Sandy, attach it and start shooting!

This is a specific manual for this lens.

Those universal manuals always make me laugh... not much to explain on how to use a lens. Of course this lens, with the heater spot and focal lock, could potentially have a use for a manual, but like others have said few people read them anyway. Luckily we have kind native speakers on here to translate when we are curious!

Yes , agree but this one looks like very specific one.
I am long term Pentaxian and probably well too pedantic

Interesting, though not something I'm likely to do myself. One has to know one's limitations...

From a practical point-of-view, a heater that could be connected through USB to a powerbank would probably be easiest, not requiring too much extra bulk in the bag. I've looked around for a commercial solution, and most seem to be bands like the DIY you linked. Strange that Pentax would explicitly design a space for a wire heater instead and advertise it on their site without there being any commercial product of the sort...

Here in Perth Western Australia definitely will need no heaters.
That must be the first Pentax lens with a provision for heating arrangement , why this one?

Dear All,

I recently purchased brand new HD Pentax-DA* 11-18mm F2.8 , love it!
The lens came with a paper leaflet , printed on both sides ,some kind of Quick Start Guid.
It is rather odd size , a bit bigger than 10" x 14.5" , with the reference number : 51529.
The problem is , it is not in English , most likely in Japanese and Chinese.
I talked to AU Pentax distributor and was told that all those lenses supplied from Japan / China come with the same paperwork , No english version included.
My question is:
You all dear Pentaxians on all other Continents , if you purchased this lens in your country , did it possibly come with the english translation of this guid?
I know how to use this lens , it is pure curiosity , so if you did get the english version could you possibly scan / photograph it and send me a copy please.
cheers
jack
I bought a Ricoh refurbished one earlier in the year from SRS: I had a leaflet with it about the same size and reference number 51528.
